Whats blates?
I dont know why you would get attached to chickens, seriously. Also, if you get some ***** (roosters) they could have babies...

blates = blatently
I like chickens, when I used to work on the farm it entertained me when we'd break their neck and watch them running around with their head hanging off :D

omg im not bein funny but this brings back a proper weird story. my old neighbours who were proper hard core chavs right, once they thought it would be clever to get some ducks :S so we had ducks quackig in the enxt garden all day and night. it basically failed cos it ****ted up their garden, then they made a little pond and that got ****ted up cos thats what ducks do so yh fail.
that was off topic soz :( gl wit the chickens, home grown eggs ftw init xx

Oh myy, thats horrible! Serious cringe going on there.
As for the chickens, my neighbour has some and we never hear them or anything, I think they're pretty boring animals really.

I had a chicken on Sunday and it was delicious. Are you keeping them to farm for eggs n ting, or meat also? Or just cute lil pets that can be an option if you ever feel starving?

We were going to get some and we have the room too, but my mum says its either her or the chickens and we can't cook so no chickens sadly. My dad had them when he was younger in South Africa though, they bought them for what was worth around 5p each from the merchants who sat infront of the supermarkets. Anyway raised them in the bathtub while they were little chicks and they went outside when they were old enough to fend for themselves.
My grandad just fed them all the scraps, bacon rind, leftovers from breakfast - they eat anything. Although I think they went a bit mad in the end because they used to charge at my nan and were very vicous, they had the house next to the school alleyway and the chickens would sit on the wall and hiss at all the kids walking to/and from school. :P
I want ducks when i'm older though, like the long necked white ones with the yellow feet, they are so cute.

that's what my neighbours had. makes no sense in a back garden of like a chav estate.
anyway ducks are a right handful and they'll turn your garden into a pile of **** and feathers. and your neighbours will hate you.

Yeah the neighbour next door told us years ago she used to have a few, came home once and there were something like 24 ducklings all walking around the garden in a line. We have the space, i'd just have to cordon part of the garden off I guess so they wouldn't ruin everything else because all these birds eat like mad. Thats if I live in a house like the one i'm in now when i'm older. :P
I've wanted one ever since on this program one put its head on the womans knee and like its neck was all laid out omg (L)

We have chickens but I have nothing to do with them seeing as how I don't see the point in keeping chickens as pets. I'm sure it costs no more to just buy eggs than it costs to keep chickens.

lol my dad and step-mum are just obsessed with being self sufficient. all of our veg comes from the garden and then they will only buy british meat from farm shops. and yeah dan, we've sectioned off a bit of our garden for them. how will our dog and cat react? lol

I used to have 4 Rhodeisland red's but the fox got 3 of them, so I have 1. My advice (though a bit late now) would be to always get them from a trusted breeder, mine were a bit weird because they'd been inbred and stuff we think...

You've never seen a live hedgehog? I'm amazed.. although they are often squashed but we usually have at least one in our garden each year.
