Should bad language be allowed in songs? I say no, as it ruins the song. Blanking it out all the time, it's annoying, and personally I hate songs that swear and that are good but because of the swearing can't be played on radio.

It's quite often not necessary but I don't think it ought to be disallowed as a whole just because of that. I write a lot of lyrics and tend to steer clear of swearing because there's usually better words and phrases I can use instead but I don't have an actual problem with it really

It's fine by me, sometimes a particular swear word or what we see as bad language is the best word for the song and is the only word that artists can use to ensure that the song sounds good. I'm against songs which are just a mixture of swearing and shouting but that's just because I think the music is crap rather than because I dislike the bad language.

i agree they're overused at times but i just dont think "gimme the loot" by biggie would be as amazing if he didnt drop the f-bomb every other line.

i have no problem with swearing in songs, sure some artists use it excessively but like sam said, some songs wouldn't be the same without

nope, if you don't write lyrics for radio and just want to write about your feelings, then it can be acceptable. of course other words and phrases can sometimes be used, but swearing can often emphasize something that other words may be unable to do.

Swings in roundabouts really. From the point of view of someone who needs clean music to play on air, it is really annoying when artists include swearing/obscene language just to add to their image, or whatever. In terms of freedom of speech there is no way that it can be banned.

In rap profanity is way overused without good reason.

Some songs can only put their lyrical message across by using a profane word, though.

If there are better words to use then by all means use them, but sometimes swearing is needed to express something fully.

this post has my view too.
Bad Language can sometimes amplify the meaning of the lyrics on what the artist is trying to portray.

(wow... i sounded so lame then)

I dunno, it might just be me but say if your favourite song has bits of swearing in, I think it ruins it when it blanks it out, like one of lily allens ones, it got boring because half of it was blanked out.

@bad' language is fine.

Songs like '**** You' and '**** you right back' - imagine them without bad language.

This.

If bad language wasn't any use in songs, it wouldn't be in songs currently.

I think it's okay in some songs. In ones where they swear a lot, it's stupid as the song would work perfectly fine without them all and they ruined it by doing so.

It's fine, personally I think it should be allowed on the radio, Most kids hear worse at school and football matches anyway and probably listen to it themselves anyway.

I honestly don't have a problem as long as it contributes towards the mood of the song, like in an angry song swearing's okay in my opinion. However when it's just swearing for the sake of swearing and doesn't contribute towards anything then I don't think it's necessary.

Because of the songs which use swearing to add to the song I think it shouldn't be banned or anything.

It can be unnecessary sometimes, but there's other times when it is necessary. Either way, it's better than music designed for radio.

Yeah it should be allowed, their song, their lyrics.
