Is anyone else doing DiDA? Words cannot describe how flawed it is.
One word: planning. Why? Whats the point? We have a deadline of 28th Feb or something for D201 and 99.99% of my time is spent planning. While I'm busy filling out this stupid assets table, or my stupid ongoing plan, or some stupid diary, I'm missing deadlines for individual tasks and having to update my plan again saying why...
The whole thing would be a lot easier if we just had a list of stuff to do and a deadline. I garuantee I would have the whole lot done by now if I didn't have to spend all my time planning. To me, it seems as if this whole course is based around how well you can plan, and nothing to do with your actual ICT skills
And to think I used to like ICT... well, not anymore :P If there's an evaluation at the end of this project, I'm gonna make sure I have a massive rant at the end of it.

My friends too chose DIDA during GCSE and had a similar experience to you, and ended up with worse grades than if they had chosen something else despite them being amongst the brightest in the yeargroup.
Glad I didn't pick it :)

I did DiDA and got 4* :D full marks on the 2nd one.
I was thinking the same as you, but what DiDA want is to ensure you are able to plan properly and that your final product which you create meets the requirements. You just have to lie alot in the plan.

I took that course in year 10 and 11, i did 2 units.
it wasnt so much hard, more time consuming !
i did struggle on it a bit now and then, i would stay behind till about 6pm every day after school doing it, on top of the 5 hours of IT i did anyway, and often skipping PE to do it. ha i sound like one of thosr fat computer geeks :L i study public services atm so im not !
i came out with 2 A grades at the end of day, and looking back, it was worth it. i got on with the teacher so well, so that probably helped a bit.
like any subject, its worth it in the long run !

Ye I know the feeling, it would be easier with any coursework to just give it to me to do instantly!
I mean (diff subject) my business teachers, I got 2 doing different units. One just lets us get on at our own pace and the other constantly stops us to give us "notes" (aka add more to it which is totally pointless).
Worst part of Dida is the fact I took Cida, but the crap school decided to freaking change it to Dida and the year below me got a choice of the 2! With the choice of media too, WHAT THE HELL!!
My school is crap, except in English my teacher is actually really good there. I needed a bit of a rant. Dida is more of a mess around now, mainly because in my class everyone is messing about and it's impossible to concentrate and we get new teachers like every half a year so, I'll probably just go back or do it in my own time when it's alot more quieter and easier to work in.
It's so boring too. http://www1.edexcel.org.uk/D201_0908/html/SPB201Index.htm That's what I am doing :S Our key skills ICT lesson teaches me more then this bullcrap. They only do this because people in the ICT are complete and utter ******s if they done unit 2 or above their brains would probably swell, I'm probably the only one capable of even getting a pass.
Also don't get me started about teachers, NONE OF MY TEACHERS HAVE EVER CLEARLY SAID WHAT I NEED TO DO (in terms of planning). They're like "Update your ongoing plan", what, update it? UPDATE WHAT, WE HAVN'T DONE ANYTHING BECAUSE OF THOSE FREAKING MORONS WHO KEPT BEING TOTAL DOUCHEBAGS THROWING THINGS AROUND AND U MAKING TEACHERS DO A BODY AND BAG SEARCH FOR A FLAMING BALL!!! IM NOT THE FREAKING MAGIC MAN COMING OUT TO PLAY AND DOING STUFF I DON'T KNOW HOW, YOU COULDN'T TEACH EVEN IF IT WAS ABOUT YOURSELF, YOUR MOTHER PROBABLY KNOWS MORE EVEN ABOUT THAT ABORTION YOU HAD WHEN YOU WERE 17 U FREAKING DOUCHEBAG OF A DOUCHEBAGS MOTHER. BUT YOU CAN'T BE A MOTHER YOU'RE AN UGLY TROLL WHO CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT YOU DONE LAST LESSON AND NEVER CHECKED MY WORK WHEN YOU SAID YOU WOULD BECAUSE YOU ARE A CRAP ASS TEACHER WHO NEEDS TO GO LEARN SOME MORE IN ORDER TO TEACH. ANYWAY HOW COULD YOU TEACH SOMEONE "ICT" I COULD DO THIS ON PAPER FOR FREAKING HELLS SAKE WHAT IS THE POINT I DONT CARE IF I FAIL THIS AT LEAST I DONT FAIL LIFE LIKE YOU HAVE, NO WONDER NO ONE IN THE CLASS LIKES YOU. WHY CANT YOU JUST KICK OUT THOSE DOUCHEBAGS SO I CAN ACTUALLY freaking do the work with DOUCHEBAGS YELLING DOWN MY EAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've edited this so many times thats how bad my class is and my teacher etc.
Oh in addition a douchebag teacher got us to do stuff that wasn't even related to the coursework.

DiDA is unfortunately a subject where the teachers teach you nothing. I had to teach myself everything, but I am glad I took the course as I got alot out of it - even though I did nothing for the whole 2 years and then started ******** myself and finished each unit in a week. Was hell.

Yeah, planning was by far the worst bit, I don't really see the point in it.

Because in real life, you are supposed to plan first instead of just doing the work.

they don't count as GCSEs. They are rough equivalents and on University applications they don't go under GCSEs. So if they're advertised as GCSEs they are WRONG.
