Right, over the holidays I managed to rack up about 14 bottles of coke, 4 fanta and 2 Shloer, not including stuff I had while out. This made me realise how much crap I actually drink, so I've forced myself to drink nothing but fruit juices and water until I actually feel better in myself. Progress will be below.

It's really a good idea, I did this myself and now I only actually drink fizzy drinks etc on special occasions or as a treat. It's so much better health wise and especially for your teeth.

I drink fruit juice most of the time now after doctors advice, altough i can't help myself with redbull :(!

Noticed a downside already, 5th toilet trip in about 2 and a half hours.

I'll join you, i pretty much drink water anyway, but now i'm cutting out all sugar drinks, and saving alcohol until summer, unless something comes up.

It's my new years resolution, to only drink water. So far so good. However, I will be drinking alcohol as and when I go out for a night, if I'm in the mood. It's my 18th in like 6 weeks and funnily enough I'm not planning on drinking water then :P Weird having a McDonalds and asking for a water, haha.

iAdam
05-01-2010, 09:30 PM
Yh I thought that, doesn't go right, Big mac, Fries and a water? What's going on there.

Eight glasses of water today I am proud tbh.

yeah it's like that for the first 2 weeks or so but it gets better (or maybe i just stopped noticing i went so much)
i started this last year and now i only drink fizzy juice if it's with alcohol and it really does make you feel so much better, plus it honestly does good things for your skin imo :) doesn't make me look so washed out anymore

iAdam
05-01-2010, 09:50 PM
Haha, spose that's an upside that I won't notice too much, I just figured that all the crap I was drinking wasn't doing me much good.

Next challenge would be food tho, then just general fitness.

Immenseman
05-01-2010, 09:54 PM
Yeah, that's one of the main reasons I'm doing it, so my skin isn't so ming.

Tbh its a good idea although some juices are not good for you either they put loads of sugar so you should also read the labels on ur juice to make sure it isnt just as bad as the soda

Pure fresh stuff.

Day 7, still stuck to it, not even desperate for coke or anything anymore.

Same Adz! First few days I instinctively went to get squash/juice/fizzy drink but now I'm just like water :8

I think your problem is drinking too much. Most things are ok to drink regular but not having like one can of coke after the other etc.

Good stuff, hardest thing is explaining to friends why you're not drinking crap.

do you feel better? and have you noticed any changes to yourself?

Tbh, Yes, Just felt alot happier and less tired tbh, crazy.

Eurgh, I cannot stand water - I just normally have apple juice etc. :8

You get used to it, I wasn't a fan of it but now I've drank so much it's alright.

If you don't already drink filtered water. Healthier and tastes much better. Cheaper than buying bottled water too :)

How? Filtered water is basically changing hard water to soft water, but hard water is healthier (and tastes much better in my opinion)...

It filters the crap in the water.

I drink lotssss of water for better skin and to lose water weight *+~*+

Once your body gets used to the idea that you're drinking a lot more than you used to it'll stop storing up water for safekeeping and toilet trips ought to become less frequent, as well as making you lose that weight of all the water your body was keeping around before (because you were basically dehydrating yourself before if you weren't drinking enough)

iAdam
07-01-2010, 08:57 PM
Nah not filtering it, I'm hard like that.

And cheers FJ, Didn't really know about this kinda area. ;)

Btw if you've been helpful, repping.

Don't drink filtered water, it filters out the minerals and everything good in the water, tbh i dont know why people even drink filtered water just stick to normal :P

Remember that fruit juices have natural sugars, so drinking enough won't do you any good.

There's nothing negative with drinking water except if you consume too much, in which case you die either by drowning or your kidneys cannot process it fast enough and your brain swells. A couple of liters in a short space of time will be damaging, some guy at a gym recently nearly died whilst working out. Anyway, I digress, I presume you're just having it in a glass every so often each day.

Bun
08-01-2010, 10:16 AM
yeah i'm kind of doing this. be all nice and fresh and all that crp and lose a bit of weight or somet. it's wkd cos it bloats you and like washes you out with going to the loo all the time, altho it can get a bit boring to drink with meals. :(

you'll probably find it quite easy to, a lot of people mistake dehydration for hunger, you do get water from various foods but it won't be enough and that's why you have to eat more.
once you start drinking water religiously it'll be hard to stop, say you stop one day you'll notice a big different between how you feel when you've been drinking it and when you haven't

A year and a half ago I drank like 2Literes of coke a day, so i decided to quit it and just drink water. I managed to drink nothing but water for a whole year (no milk, fruit juice, alcohol or nothing, although it could have been in food form) then in November I had coke. I'm no longer addicted to fizzy drinks. You don't have to believe me if you don't want to because I know I wouldn't. I am going to go another year without fizzy drinks starting Monday, wish me luck :), (Although this team alcohol will be an exception at weekends).

You should try stay off them like your doing, you feel so much better and just generally healthy everyday (as long as you don't eat crap food).

Best of luck mate,
Richard.

yeah my drinking of crap is a major contributer to why i feel so crap and tried most of the time so i think i will start this. Tea is a major downfall though haha i can mange it alright when im on sport tours like i went to barbados and drunk only water and alcohol for a sports tour

I think Im going to try and cut down too. Not stop drinking fizzy stuff completely, but definitely less I drink too much. Then maybe if that goes well I might try and stop completely :)

I'm going to eat more fruit as well I think and less crap. Hmm.

Pyroka
10-01-2010, 10:04 PM
if you drink water, like fresh spring water, just one bottle at lunch will make ya feel great.

i never really have fizzy things when im working or doing stuff, it just doesnt help. its more refreshing if u had a cold evian bottle, just downed it, 80p, cheaper than a bottle of coke or w.e, but ye try that ;) you do it for a month, youll notice you feel much more awake.

Richie

Does wonders.

I drink about 3 pints of coke a day, when i'm at home. When i'm out i usually buy Oasis though. They don't make 2 litres bottles of oasis though.

Immenseman

I had my first drink that wasn't water this week :P However, I went out for a meal and it was a glass of wine, I only had one to compliment the meal and stuck to water for the rest of the night. Not too bad :D
