Ive seen this on other fan-sites before and i think it looks real nice. For people who don't know what it is a replacement for the text system thats used at Habbox to show Habbo names, instead it shows a flag and if you hover over it the Habbo name is displayed and when you click the flag it brings you to the Habbo homepage of that Habbo. I think it only works on Verticle userbits.
And it wouldn't really clog up the userbit, you could hide location because i dont really know what thats displayed? lol When you can just look on their profile page, and you could also hide the blog part that is shown on the userbit. You could also get rid of gender from it as well lol

It must be something similar to:
<vb:if condition="$post['fieldX']"><a href="habbowhatever/{vb:var post.fieldX}"><img src="images/country.png" /></a></vb:if>
(vb4 conditionals)
But i suggested to get rid of some, and them four flags takes up the same ammount of space as the "Habbo Uk Name: _____: part does

If i'm in the habbo section it'll be because i'm trading and i'd rather see Habbo name: ______ rather than 4-5 flags for different hotels about something i have no interest in, if i was interested in their other habbos i'd go on their profile and see it instead of having to open another page/look at link to find their username

Most people dont have their habbo name is that part tho and usually post it in the thread anyways...... you dont have to put a name in for every hotel, just the one you use and all it takes is a simple hover

Ugh conditionals everywhere.
I actually rather like this, images could also be easily skin specific by using {vb:stylevar imgdir} or whatever it is.
And non habbo-like icons look nicer than "Habbo Name: xxxxxxx". At least to me, but then I like icons :eusa_danc
it wouldn't suite this forum like it does to Ch which is where i thnk you took that from lol because we have better skins then them it would look tacky :D!

Sammeth, I think it could work nicely on the new skins, at the very least the non-habbo ones to remove the word "habbo" from it (those icons would look sexy on the nh-light methinks).
What Alex said, there's no reason why little things that take the best part of 180 seconds to implement but produce a nice result to modernise our image can't be done.

MissAlice's recent suggestion: Improve the welcome new members receive.
This would have a long-term effect on the forum as members who feel welcome will be more inclined to stay on the forum.
This idea: Change the Habbo Name profile field to world flag icons.
In some people's opinion it might look better.

Sure it does, but other lesser known people (no offense to skizzling and a few others) suggested that we change the mobile skin (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=621173), which would 1) benefit current users of that skin; and 2) by satisfying current users it has the potential to also retain these members, which habbox does rely on.
Three or more threads have been made about the skin one and nothing has been done, one person makes a thread about welcoming someone and everybody jumps on it like a poor man on money.
Black_Apalachi

OK I'll try to explain this again. The welcome thread issue relates to improving the community in the long-term. Changes to the skins are merely to please the few people who won't stop whining about them. Personally I think the current skins are perfectly fine as they are however anything to improve the treatment of new members is pretty much a priority.

Can you honestly say that this (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=621218&page=3&styleid=62) looks good?
You must have missed my point. These threads have been asked for for about 1 year (at least) and almost nothing has been done. This problem has been around longer then new members leaving.
One person (missalice) makes a thread and BAM! its done instantly, other people suggest something and then its like "hmm, well, ummm... we COULD do something... hmm".

As mentioned previously, waiting on a stable-stable version of vB 4.0 as with early editions they tend to update the version frequently. There is already plans for 4.0.2 sometimes towards the end of this month and between gold and .2 the css is changing slightly though it hasn't been specified what exactly.

Why does it have to wait until vB4? If the coders here can't simply grab data from a profile field then return it in fused with an image taking up a few lines of code then there's something up.

That's what I don't get. It takes literally 10 minutes to create the fields (if you don't have them already, I think you do) then paste that into the postbit_legacy template.
I don't think something as simple as this shouldn't be done because of vB4. I've just added an on/off feature for certain postbit items on CH and we'll also be upgrading.
It makes the user content and happy, so why not add it?

That's what I don't get. It takes literally 10 minutes to create the fields (if you don't have them already, I think you do) then paste that into the postbit_legacy template.
I don't think something as simple as this shouldn't be done because of vB4. I've just added an on/off feature for certain postbit items on CH and we'll also be upgrading.
It makes the user content and happy, so why not add it?
Not everybody wants it, so whats the point in adding it. If added in vb4 the development team can implement it properly into the new skins while also allowing the user to turn it off and on again, depending on what they like. (Not saying this is actually happening). Why add it now if we can implement it later on the new skins and make it actually look nice?

But that's like anything.
I don't like the userbars here, but I put up with them and I guess a lot of people like them.
I don't like the stars here (the things by your name) but I put up with them.

I didn't see, and I don't care, about the amount of people that said they wanted it. I merely visited this thread, noticed the idea was from CH and **kindly** showed you the code we had.
Problem?

Yes because you can't get over the fact they said no.
Clearly they don't wish to implement it at this time, so get over it.

Why can't I get over it? I couldn't care less, I only visit this forum a few times a week and don't really post. ;s
I don't care whether this implemented or not, I simply helped you out by providing the code should you want to use it. You wouldn't see other fansites doing it.

I'm guessing vBulletin boards do not upgrade smoothly, or is the userbit as mentioned in this idea like a hack which will not upgrade with vB 4.0?
And why are you having a go at emotional? He's only sharing his ideas in a mature way, he doesn't appear to be for or against the idea, just suggesting a way to do it if Habbox were to make it happen, which isn't a bad thing :S

Yes, and we thank you for the code, although it will not be implemented now, although it might be in vb4.
Thank you anyway.

Sorry, at the time I was just thinking everything should have an opposite :P
I'll be honest it just looks like changing things for the sake of changing them.
Well lets look into implementing it when we move to 4.0
Just kinda proves a point that some peoples ideas are over looked because they are not a "well respected member"
Sammeth.

Since when is Jamesy a well respected member :S It is a change just for the sake of changing them, but theres no point in doing it now, if we do do it (which I never said we would, I said we'll look into it) it would be for 4.0.

its a good idea, but theres no point. habbox has always been styled in a certain way, changing that sorta ruins the habbox feel. we dont want to go trying to mimic 'other fansites' *COUGH CLUBHABBO COUGH*
theres no need for it.

I'm in favour of flags rather than the current line of text, but on the grounds that it's a useful visual change. (Not because it's any more or less Habbo related, or that it's change for the sake of change, whichever conservative moron said that...)
On a related matter, no poll can escape the fact that this is a Habbo related forum. Take MacRumors Forum as an example: just because there are more general categories featured on it, it does not mean its users would stand free of ridicule if they asked for less Mac imagery... even if said user had moved back to PC. The same goes for any game or hobby themed forum.
Heck I don't log on Habbo often, but I'm old enough to not give a damn what people think about a browser window I might have open. The truth is it's a Habbo forum. Those who have issue with it should either suck it up (like the rest of us), or log out for good.

poll results/link 2 poll results pls
"Current line of text" is more useful as you can see the habbo name without having to go on the page/hovering over it if you have status bar enabled, i'd much rather see a persons habbo name written out then i can easily add them to friends list or whatever if i'm trading etc than a link to another page which i'd then have to find the users name...
he never said there was a poll, he said if there was one...
if you click the flag it brings you to the users page where there is an add as friend button? or all you need to do is hover and type it into the box on habbo (which you have to do with the current one anyways)

all them, but i dont see why that has anything to do with the thread when we already have the fields for the names of other hotels, its just making them look nicer

i said there was one.. not everyone has status bar on so can't hover over it... and not everyone uses the same browser for everything so wouldn't be logged on habbo in same browser = inconvenience.

so no results existed publically..theres alot more sections than just the 4 though and not everyone who uses gfx/games does as alot are runescape members and various other games or are addicted to xbox/ps3 now instead of habbo :)

Aren't flags just flags? Calling them Habbo flags is a bit misleading, or do you mean having the userbit information that shows what country and Habbo the user users? :P
