I never used it anyway :)

I'm sure it's not a big loss, like said there's other image hosts.

Ill be intrested in buying if so.

I have used it a lot but stopped recently because it stopped working for me. It served me well however! x

Jin will probably keep the site name, just like has been done with habboxworld.com and some others.

But if Habbox needs money o.O could get a good price just because it's already popular and was owned by Habbox. Obviously, I don't know the technicalities and stuff but it sounds like a pretty good idea to sell it to an interested party although I have a feeling someone will reply explaining why it's a bad idea :P

would be the most amount of money uploadpicz has ever made lets be honest.

^ lol

selling the domain would mean that the images would be lost, because the new owner could delete all the files on the server if they wanted. of course, if thats not a problem, i dont see why not

I just suggested this to Jin before reading this thread. Depending on the number of uploads a day, hits etc, you could get quite a bit, but if the revenue from it isn't even £1 a month, that will reduce its price significantly.

i dont think the domain will be sold as a lot of images on habbox use uploadpicz so we would have plenty of broken images!

It seems a bit stupid though, on the thread its saying you're paying $40 more a month because the 15GB of images, yet you're keeping it so you're still going to be paying that lol, suerly should just change the folder name on the server or something and find what images are broken so you can reupload on the appropriate site, then when all images are fine just wipe it but obviously over a few weeks so people/yourselves have time to update those necessary pages/sigs, then sell teh domain

Can't you just restrict it to only allow habbox to hotlink the images so other sites can't hotlink ;)

I only used it as required while I was a member of staff but I did prefer alternatives such as Imageshack. Is someone actually paying for it then? Nice one :).

No as now they only need to keep 1 backup.

Selling would inevitably break all images, as the domain name would point to different servers eventually.

Cost is incurred due to backups the total size of uploadpicz if we include all retained backups = 150GB as we use 3M's GFS principle for backups on daily, weekly and monthly periods, now we only have 60GB to account for.

But still offers us no money and plus it is a image hosting site which is used more by non-habbox users.

Look at you pretending to be all clever after asking me on msn first.

Isn't most of habbox's images uploaded on the assets.habbox.com loader? So only broken images should be forum sigs etc but if you give everyone like a week to reupload on a dif upload site then should be fine then you can sell domain and make a bit ££ :P better than domain being practically inactive apart from a few people using it for forum sigs etc.
