Hey we have Sky Multiroom, the normal Sky+ Box is upstairs in the parents room and the HD box is downstairs.

When we go to record something from the HD box, it fails. It hasn't recorded a programme since Tuesday (since the snow came along)

However, the recording works with the box upstairs...

Why?

can anyone help because we have loads of programmes that we've missed!

Sky love telling customers to:

Turn it off at the wall for 10 minutes, then turn on.

Our Sky HD(+) box used to do that, it sort of needs to reboot or start from cold every now and again. It also goes off randomly, yet the Sky mini-box in the other room can work fine most of the time. Sky is just a mess lately :/

riight so the best bet it to switch it off by the mains for 10 minutes?

and yeah they say that all the time haha.

If it is the boc failing, phone sky and explain. They will give you a new box.

We recently upgraded to Sky+HD, but with our previous Sky we got through 4 boxes (everyone was a different style lol.)

Yeah, do this then phone Sky and when they tell you to do it, you can say you already have done, and go from there.

we turned it off for 10 minutes by the mains, turned it back on and now no channels are appearing, we get a message saying Schedule information not available

..great!
No Sky.

still not seen football in HD on Sky Sports.

right, when we turned it off by the mains and turned it back on, none of the programmes came on. we rang Sky, they went through a load of instructions and nothing worked, so they're sending out a new Sky HD+ box next Wednesday :(

Put the Sky+ downstairs for the time being and all run off that.

will that work?
because when the sky got fitted im sure there were different cables which went in the HD box

They may get confused if the signal is dropping in and out a lot, a bit like mobile phones do.

And it will work, they both use the same coaxial cable up to the dish.

Yes, as Recursion said.

We removed the Sky+ Box from upstairs and plugged it in on the main TV, it works. It's the HD Box failing.

I think it's because we got a free HD Box as part of the deal, haha.

free HD Box = used before?

Probably a defect haha

The cables should work with all boxes's my mums old boss bought a sky HD box off ebay cos his Sky+ was knackered (only £20 used mint condish) works like a dream, gets several free HD channels - No hd tv though :P

Non the less it should still be in good working order. They should fit a new one free of charge as they break from time to time like anything. It could also be a defect with HD, i personally so no glory in it.
