I've been looking around the forum and I see a need for improvements listed below. :)
Thread Colours for Staff
It appears that staff love to use blue and many other colours when creating threads to make them stand out, all that happens is that I go eurrghgh whenever on the Non-habbo dark skin because it's close to impossible to read them. Staff should be encouraged to stick to just black and red and not to bold half the post if they need to use another colour.
P.C.P.
PCP stands for Praise, Criticism, Praise. The idea is that if you want to give feedback then at the beginning you give praise, then you give constructive criticism and then you give them praise again. I believe this would be a better way to treat new members trying to integrate into sections which rate something which you make. E.g. Habbo Alterations. This would make new members feel welcomed and it makes it so they are more likely to act upon criticism rather than feel attacked. Current members should be encouraged to use this method of providing feedback.
Unforced registration page
In one of the threads a week or two ago I suggested an idea of an unforced registration page, so for example as a guest you browse 30 pages or so and then you are shown a page encouraging you to register, you can either do so or just skip the screen and go to where ever you were going to in the first place. Management didn't seem to notice this so I thought I would bring it up again.
Unique HxL DJ user titles
I am not quite sure why this isn't already implemented, Habbox Live DJs instead of having 'Radio DJ' or 'Senior DJ' as their user title should have 'DJ <whatever>' as they're usertitle, this would increase awareness of the HxL DJs, allow people to learn what they're forum name is (Which is often different) and make Habbox seem a little bit more relaxed.
Make events more clear to forum users
The competitions and community notice boards do exist but I don't often visit them. Perhaps there should be a banner displayed next to adverts listing current competitions and events more clearly?
A last observation is the competitions which the Competitions Dept. has started doing. They seem to be improved from the massive quests which were last year but they still need to shorten the time span they run for. However on the plus side they have started making shorter to complete competitions which means people can quickly get back to what they were doing before.

I started leaving my competitions non-coloured and it makes me think of you every time!
Considering that competitions used to run for a month, I think 5 days is more than appropriate for those shorter competitions and the bigger competitions, like the 'Lost Managers' quest, two weeks. I think the closing dates are fair, they leave enough time for those less-than-active users to still maybe catch them but not too long that it just drags on!
As for advertising, I'm sure that Roxy has started bugging the right people to get more advertising for comps and events, including the banners you suggested. Hmm I wonder how this is coming along actually, I'll have to ask her :D

I think one of the suggestions in another thread was to create competitions which take about 45 seconds to work out and then the first person to PM the answer wins the top prize which isn't much but you could run many of these a day and people could just join into one of these if they spot one.
For example
Oh dear I seem to have lost the list of staff names:
First to PM me with a list of all the HabboxForum SuperMods can claim their reward of 4 Days VIP in any standard colour they like.
You could run multiple on the same theme in one day creating a longer narrative.

I can't say I've seen this anywhere other than competitions and I think coloured competitions look ugly, but I think Mike has just said he's stopped doing it???

This would be very hard to enforce, I assume you are talking about forums such as GFX and Tech? People tend to moan about the "constructive criticism only" rule as it is :P Other than that it would be good.

I know some DJs already do this however other people tend to call themselves DJs too, so maybe if it was like:
HxL Staff
DJ Bob
or something similar, but I do get the point here. In my opinion a DJ's name should be their Habbo name however this isn't my domain :P
Make events more clear to forum users

I think Roxy has said she wants to make use of notices etc, so we'll see what comes of this!

I noticed this also, Mike posted a good picture competition earlier but it's open until 14th February, I mean what the hell????? Things like that should be open for a week maximum imo!

I didn't really like this idea. I think the whole "first person wins" thing is a bit unfair. The "picking winners at random" method works fine.
And if that thread says 14th February, that's a mistake but I'm positive I put January.
edit: I did put January, oli, you need to go to specsavers :P

It's unfair in my opinion, why shouldn't the person who does it first win? Especially if you run multiple per day, it's more fun and seems less of a copout. Random wouldn't be so random if you didn't have stupidly easy questions with endless time to enter. It may as well be randomly picked from the entire forum.

This was something I hated about the old style of comps, simple colours look so much better. (L)
I like the idea of the registration page, would help bring in more members instead of forcing them in like other sites do. I also don't understand why habbox DJs don't have their username as their habbo name..
Great ideas :D

Because that would mean that those people offline who may have wanted to take part can't because they're at school/college/work/different timezone etc. Also if you're going to say 'have them at different times' then, this is highly impractical because we also have school/college/work.

The reputation thread has always had colours in it, brandon would be devastated if he had to change it!! :p
I think it's difficult to encourage members to post what we want them to post, it's hard enough stopping people being down right rude to new members.
Some people make habbo names calling themselves DJ-whatever, I know people used to but maybe people don't do it as much anymore.
Even a competition for +rep like the ones members have been doing in the spam forum would work well, however this could be something forum management could run because it's quite simple, and aren't so much "competitions" but just little quickfire quizzes, could work well.

Thread Colours for Staff
Yeh i hate when people use colours it just makes the post look crap tbh :P
Unforced registration page
Yeh that would be good as management didnt seem to like the idea of forcing members to register a few months ago so wouldn't be forcing them and i'd assume more people would register through it
Unique HxL DJ user titles
Yeh but on hxl i'm sure theres a profile page which has every DJ Their habbo name etc and all dj's forum name should be same as habbo name, but no harm doing that few minutes to update usertitles :P however they'd probably still have to have something saying hxl DJ as randoms could come and put DJ ________ as they're a DJ for some other site and people might think they're a DJ :P
Make events more clear to forum users
More banners = bad just clogs up the forum more and gets more annoying :P
I also think that the HabboxLive subforum (in Habbox feedback) should be moved out to the actual habbox section (along with hxhd, feedback, bug tracker, etc) and habboxlive DJ's urged to do more forum competitions to encourage visitors to sign up to the forum and reply, (reason for moving it as its easier to find, as no-one wants to be giving out instructions to go into all different subforums etc when its easily on the forum homepage :P) as last sunday when habbox done the day long competition, staff were doing forum competitions aswell which ended up having IIRC 89 new members signing up to the forum, compared to other days when i think max was 40 so it shows alow of people are willing to sign up if encouraged to do so :P

After feedback given last month, we've already started introducing small +rep prizes for various competitions. But yes, forum staff could run competitions too, just to interact with the community. I know the graphics department is looking to do the same. :)

I know you have school, college and work. Hire people from different time zones, you could even do them at set times. For example at 5pm every day you could run a competition which is guaranteed to end within 5 minutes. I didn't say abolish the old style, just introduce this on top to have more comps.
The reputation thread has always had colours in it, brandon would be devastated if he had to change it!! :p
I hoped you would do it for me, leave the red though, we don't want to upset him more than we have to.

I'm sure some of the older members can just be PMed asking them to be friendly and 'dat to new members.

Ok I guess, what about 'HxL - DJ <Blank>

My thoughts exactly
Another thing, I brought this up a year ago (Sadly MattGarner and another member of staff forgot) but could a member of staff people go change the Donator page so that the 'Black Donator' on the black skin on the example is actually properly black rather than the default font colour.

As far as I know black was originally changed on the dark skin as it couldn't be seen but I'll ask about it for you.
You'd be surprised at the replies we get when we punish people for being rude to new members.
The HxL - DJ thing sounds good, lets hope Jess sees this thread and replies... if not I'm sure a DJ reading this may bring this to her attention?
And I'll direct Brandon towards your comment, if he wants to remove his colours he can :P he's very protective about his thread!! :P

But the actual colour is black so it confuses people as to whether it's just default font colour or actually Black

You just need to ask some older members and the rest will follow.

Sorry for bump, couldn't edit :P
I have also noticed that for some reason the Edit button is one of the last loading images on the page which is annoying because I often spot a typo as I click the submit button and I end up pressing the quote button when I try to edit it because it turns up 2 seconds before the edit button :(. (All skins as far as I am aware are affected)
Edit:
And why do so many forum admins have their User Profile page edited, Jin has flowers and Yoshi has made half of his white. Why?
I've asked DJs to do a few more forum competitions now and again so hopefully we should see an increase in them :)
I like the idea of them being able to view 30 pages then asked if they want to sign up, I think that'd work well.
I'm working on getting more notices up so they should promote the "bigger" events more, but having one for every competition would be stupid. There's also the habboxforum calender which have all the events on and I'm going to encourage other departments to post so you can see when the next HxHD quiz is, etc.
Something which Catzsy started was this:
http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=604993
If people would actually read it I could start it up again and just list all the available competitions to enter and events which will be on during the week, maybe with less colours though judging on what you said about that :P
Competitions have improved from last month so this month is sort of a trial and error too since they're trying new things. Once quite a few of the competitions have ended we can have another look and see how many entries they've had then go from there.
Oh and if you're admin / VIP+ you can customize your profile which is what they've done
For HabboxLive DJ names, I think a usertitle should be:
DJ <whatever> (Senior DJ)
@Roxy
Catzys thing was basicly a news letter on a shorter term?

The DJs tell the listeners their habbo name when they DJ or it's in the DJ says or there habbo is shown next to the DJ stats, all the DJs forum names must be there habbo names so i don't really think there is a problem with the usertitle thing.

I'll admit from the get go I haven't really read the thread fully cus I'm trying to catch up with everything a bit quickly, so apoligies if anything has already been brought up.
I've been looking around the forum and I see a need for improvements listed below. :)
I think this is quite a good idea really, and I would hope it could be implemented. It'll take a day or so to talk to Forum Management about it and hopefully get it up and running asap depending on what they think is best.
Quite a good idea I suppose. All it will take is for Jess to tell Matt the DJ Name when requesting permissions, so it will take literally seconds to implement.
Make events more clear to forum users
The competitions and community notice boards do exist but I don't often visit them. Perhaps there should be a banner displayed next to adverts listing current competitions and events more clearly?
I do think thats pretty clear as it is though, you know exactly where to find the information but you yourself said you dont visit them often. Maybe you should?

Eh? Why must their forum name be their habbo name? There's no restriction as far as I can tell?
Also the point that I am trying to say is so that you can work out the DJ's forum name or the DJ name of the Forum member?

Yeah all staff who require Habbo to use their jobs must have their forum name the same as their habbo one.

You require people to use Habbo to be a DJ?
If a DJ's forum name must be their habbo name then why isn't their DJ name their habbo name? Doesn't that make more sense?

They dont need to, but its our market audience, and usually where we gain our new DJs (people who listen). But as its a community department, the same rule applies.
comps like the Year 2009 one should only open for a day not 5...... there should be at least 1 if not 2 comps a day

I think the only idea that I would implement is the optional registration page for guests after they've viewed 30 threads or so. I don't see how any of the others would aid the forum all that much.

I actually like and agree with all of the ideas in the OP. The only one I don't really have an opinion on either way is the competitions.
The optional registration page is a great idea because I think not being forced to register, will actually influence more people to do so. I know that sounds weird but I think if it's not so in your face, they won't be so reluctant to. I try to do the PCP thing whenever I'm commenting on something but like Oli said, it would be hard to enforce.
