View Full Version : SPIDER-MAN 4 SCRAPPED

Sony have scrapped it after director Sam Raimi told them he couldn't creatively meet their summer 2011 release date. Everyone has now pulled out - cast and crew - and there will be a reboot, so they're starting the story from scratch with a new cast. So pissed off.

:O I was looking forward to that as well. Does this mean that it might still happen though?

EDIT: Oh just re-read. I dont think it will be the same with a new cast.

Ah that's wierd, I just googled it a min ago. Yeah that's annoying because I like the current cast.

I was going to say good, but that's worse now.

What is honestly the point? Just because Raimi isn't okay with the script means we have to have a WHOLE NEW REBOOT.

Sickens me sometimes, Hollywood doez.

Spiderman was boring any way.

Thank god. Those films were awful.

2 great films and a decent third.

I think Spiderman is the most decent superhero thing going here, its a shame to here this. I heard the villain was going to be his Professor, the Lizard guy, like I remember on the cartoon series, so its a shame it really is.

The reboot wont be successful at all. With a whole new cast and crew, people will just be annoyed or dissapointed or both. Shame really.

The lizard guy and the rhino are the only other villains I can remember (I remember lizard from the cartoon and rhino from the game lol). Oh and the fish bowl head thing.

Why not give him an extension if time is the problem as the reboot will delay it further :S

Misawa

He obviously has other projects in development that would prevent him from working any longer on the film.

I hope this means he'll finally get The Evil Dead 4 made.

aghh rumours were carnage would be in the 4th one >:(

It will fail with a new cast after the first three films were so successful.

Spiderman was the best comic to film conversion and it's going to be ruined...

Sigh.

I dont understand why they thought this would be a good idea, who wants to see the story begin all over again? :s

Misawa

I simply can't be bothered to watch the story reset at zero. I don't care to see another interpretation of the comic books. Tobey McGuire was a great Peter Parker, and you just know some second-rate actor like Taylor Lautner is probably going to be given the new role.

Haaaaarry1

Especially if it does come out in 2012, it will only be 10 years after the first one came out? I dont see the point

Peter Parker's story at high school?

Well that's gonna be boring... I thought he had no powers at high school.

CHA!NGANG

He gets them at high school. Any chance they will change their minds?

Black_Apalachi

The whole cast was pretty good in the originals, not just McGuire. I'm not interested if they start again.

Is this similar to the Hulk movies? There was a remake, then a few years later there was another? :S (Haven't seen either).

CHA!NGANG
12-01-2010, 08:22 PM
That was because the first remake was absolutely terrible so another movie was needed.

Misawa
12-01-2010, 08:23 PM
And then the reboot turned out pretty suckish, too.

although the third was a definite step down from the previous 2 brilliant installments (the second ranks among my all time favourite films) its a mighty shame as Raimi is a fantastic director and he had a great cast.

i loved JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.

Wig44.
13-01-2010, 01:46 PM
What? Ugh, I liked all 3, even if the third was inferior to the first 2 I thought 4 could be great. The hole cast was excellent I thought people like JK Simmons, Kirsten Dunst and Maguire fit their roles perfectly.

I cannot be bothered watching a new series where all of a sudden our beloved spider-man has suddenly changed so much, and the storyline reset. What a waste of time this is going to be.

Robert Pattinson is tipped to be Peter Parker/Spiderman.

No.

OH MY DAYSSSSSS. Sorry but i don't think any other actor can replace Tobey Maguire.

They say Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson are emerged as favs to replace Tobey but i don't think they have what Tobey had in Spiderman. He was so original Tobey was in Spiderman.

Out of the two though, perhaps Robbert Pattinson has my vote.

Misawa

Pattinson and Lautner are strictly TV actors. They haven't the performanc ability to carry a feature film. The two Twilight films are so unfathomably awful, and not just the story, they're so poorly made, and the performances are one of the worst elements.

Yes, it was confirmed by Sony as a reboot when I started this thread. And no... I had no involvement.

I'm wondering which other actors we could honestly see as Peter Parker.

But I can't think of anyone except Maguire, he just made the role his, and he's a great actor anyway.

This is all one bad idea, too bad the popcorn movie idiot stuffhead will still love it.

Spiderman in the comics has always been a more interesting character than in the films, but I appreciate the themes and development he tries to squeeze in. As a comic book dork I always like those little moments where I can relate a little snippet of scenery, dialogue or character to that of the comic book. The X-Men movies did no service to the characters, except the one written by David Hayter, and the Iron Man movie was more of a giant popcorn film fest. A great film nonetheless, but still not true to the character.

Raimi, Nolan, Burton, Del Toro and maybe a handful of other people just know how to make comic book movies work, and still stay true to the character.

I'll be against this movie wholeheartedly, and if Pattinson is involved, I will never watch a Marvel film again.

I can't see you NEVER watching a Marvel flim again if that were to be the case. :P

Ashton Kutcher as a possible candidate? I don't know imo. Tony was just great being Spiderman he's character suited the role well.

I think they'll go for someone young, someone who's done one or two
movies (Sci-FI) I'm guessing in the action type/hero area. Why I'm moving towards them two guys in Twightlight w/e it's called. It's going to be a difficult task finding a new cast who will be as good as the old one.

Why don't they just bloody stick with the cast and carry on the story for goodness sakes. I hate it when people make stupid decisions.

So pissed off. Especially seeing as how John Malkovich was confirmed to play the Vulture only a week or so ago. ****! The Vulture would have been such a good villain. Plus its JOHN MALKOVICH!

I'm very persistant. It'll hurt for a while but I take DC over Marvel anyway. I really just stick with Marvel to see what they're doing with their whole 'Ultimate' series, some damn good writers have come out that.

No thanks, Ashton is a cool guy but would not suit well in any superhero movie.

Twilight isn't a sci-fi movie, or action movie, it's not even a romance movie. It's just some awfully written romance thing that's supposed to teach women about love. All it really does it make Bella out to be some sort of suicidal person (because she's... you know... a girl and ends up with a musculer boyfriend?). The thing just feeds off its 14-year old, hormonal audience, there's no depth or character development. Just no substance or anything good about them.

Pattinson is also a HORRIBLE actor.

It's going to be a difficult task finding a new cast who will be as good as the old one.

I think this is what angers me most, aside from the fact it will totally butcher the series exploration of the character. The cast was pixel perfect, even if Kirsten Dunst was a bit wishy washy. Every performance was polished to perfection and I see absolutely nothing wrong with any of them.

Why don't they just bloody stick with the cast and carry on the story for goodness sakes. I hate it when people make stupid decisions.

Hollywood execs are lazy, greedy and will sacrifice anything to make a good buck, they don't do it for the movies, they do it for the box office.

I heard about that, and was excited to see the Vulture, Malkovich is just a powerhouse of great acting and he could've brought some great things to the character.

It's all dead now, thanks Sony.

Ashton is way too old for the part. He would have had a good look for it when he was younger, but he's a pretty dire actor.

Seriously, is there any need? Can't they just let the thing die. They can't beat the success of the original Spider-Man so why not just pick one of the countless other Marvel comics to start from scratch with? They would make a lot more money that way than even if they continued to do a Spider-Man 4.

Fez

The only reboot I would agree with is X-Men, since that thing could make some pretty good story.

Last Stand just totally ruined EVERYTHING.
