The phone should be on Vodafone in Europe when it comes out in European shops, it's availible on the website I think.

You've linked to a page about Android which is Googles Mobile OS not a phone, a variety of different manufacturers use it. However you are right there is a phone coming out "made" by Google although its actually manufactured by HTC. It's called the Google Nexus One :)

I only see one person mentioning that alternative phone :P

And surely the G1 was Google's first phone, not the Nexus? Not that I've paid much attention in the first place, but the G1 struck me as the first Google phone.

Not that I've paid much attention in the first place, but the G1 struck me as the first Google phone.G1 was the first Android phone, Google develops the Android OS and any manufacturers can use it. HTC created the G1 and T-Mobile sold them as the 'T-Mobile G1'.

The difference with the Google phone is, although it is manufactured by HTC again, it's been designed by Google and it's sold through the Google.com website, with no HTC branding.

Lots of people calling the G1 a Google Phone have caused this confusion, the Nexus One is the only real 'Google Phone' however, hope this clarifies it :P
