The Bourne Identity

Oh yeah, Garden State is great :).
No Requiem For A Dream? :P
That's a hard one really. It's a fantastic film but I think of my favourites as ones I know I'll watch over and over in years to come (cos I hardly ever re-watch things). I'm not saying I'll never watch Requiem for a second time but I probably won't for a few more years at least.
1. Rocky I/II/III
2. Jarhead
3. Rambo I/II/III/ John rambo
4. Watchmen

Thankfully "John Rambo" was retitled to just Rambo. After all, the original is not even called Rambo, but First Blood.
Doghouse? I hated that film. Relatively good list though.

Postman Always Rings Twice
Forrest Gump
cruel intentions
run fat boy run
coyote ugly

I loved doghouse due to it having proper actors I can relate to rather then posh people
And I really hate when in american shows they try to a British voice.. it is so annoyoing

Actually a kind of random film I really like is Dog Soldiers. I get the impression it had a relatively small budget and if you consider it a "horror", it would be one of the very few horrors I like. It may have made it on my top 10 on a different day. As could Jurassic Park and Watchmen.
Misawa you missed out Avatar!

Awful film which relies on the greatest visuals of all time. A tech demo.
Trying to make my list, but can't get it through my head, will post later.

I don't really like to think of the Lord of the Rings films as seperate entities, plus the entire trilogy would just take up my top three anyway. Might as well count them as one so I can actually fit other films on my list.
Although I would put the Lord of the Rings films in the following order.
1. The Fellowship of the Ring
2. The Return of the King
3. The Two Towers

The Fellowship of the Ring to me was extremely boring. It's just exposition, exposition, exposition that builds up a concluding five-minute battle. I was really put off by it. Regardless, the two sequels are very good.
Neversoft
20-01-2010, 08:04 PM
I absolutely love the first film and have no problem with the exposition. It's quite refreshing seeing as how the other two films are more about the battles. The first film did a fantastic job of introducing the audience to the world of middle earth and even though a lot of it was exposition (although not as much as you make it out to be) I personally don't think the film has any dull points. I was always interested in what was happening and looking forward to what would happen next. I also think The Fellowship of the Ring has some of the best cinematography of the trilogy. It's shot so beautifully. In my opinion it has the best soundtrack out of the three films as well, and some of the best scenes and characterization. I don't think I'll ever love a film more than The Fellowship of the Ring.
Misawa
20-01-2010, 08:27 PM
Yes, it is indeed all that you say. Perhaps it is because I saw it after it had hit DVD so I had heard a lot about it that gave me a picture of fantastic battles, etc, which of course the sequels handle well. I had never read the books.

I know what Adam's saying but also entirely agree with Neversoft. I still remember how when it ended, I was sitting in the cinema just in awe and suspense, as if waiting for the next one to roll on :P. Don't think I've ever anticipated a sequel more than The Two Towers. Actually it feels horrible to call it a sequel :(.
In fact I've just realised something; The Lord Of The Rings does an even better job of putting you into the Shire and Mordor than Avatar does with Pandora!
Misawa
21-01-2010, 12:22 AM
Probably because they're not CGI and actually there. Plus Pandora was pretty generic. That wasn't the first time I've seen plants that light up and floating mountains in a film.
Black_Apalachi
21-01-2010, 12:27 AM
Yeah but so was the Shire, Mordor and the woods etc in between :P. The houses in the Shire were pretty unusual but that's about it. Still, that being said plus the fact we're comparing it to something in 3D, it is clearly amazing.

Just because you didn't like Avatar it doesn't mean you need to bring it up in every thread in the film section. If you want to complain about it then go to the Avatar thread and quit ruining this one.

Haha, you're lucky you got to see it at the cinema. :P I first saw it at my auntie's house in France when it came out on VHS. I didn't know what it was and hadn't heard anything about it, but my mind was well and truly blown. It was the first film to actually leave me speechless. :P

There is a rumour going around that The Lord of the Rings is going to be re-released in 3D. Not sure whether it's true or not, but what would be the point? I wish PJ and New Line would leave the movies alone now. :P

Huh? I'm sure Sergio liked Avatar. Plus it was just a comparison. He's not bashing the film.

You hadn't even heard of it until it hit VHS?! That's insane! Although I didn't see The Two Towers until I was at my mate's house when his dad brought it home and we watched it.

I will actually cry if they do that. Would Peter Jackson really do that? :( I could imagine it more with King Kong (although I'd still hate it).

Haha cheers guys :P. Yep, just because I agree that it doesn't deserve every award going, doesn't mean I didn't like it. Thanks for the positive contribution to the thread though, FlyDuo, considering I'm ruining it so much.

I didn't start using the internet until 2004 and I didn't keep up with all the showbiz at all. I just knew about upcoming movies through word of mouth or until I saw them for sale in various shops or at the cinema. I saw The Two Towers and Return of the King within the first week of release at the cinema though. :D
More importantly, you just said you have never aniticipated a sequel more than The Two Towers but you didn't see it until your friends Dad bought it home one night!? :P
Hmm, I wouldn't be surprised. I think PJ liked Avatar, but then again him and Cameron are friends and Jackson's company handled the special effects in Avatar so he could hardly bad mouth the movie. :P

Actually you're right, that doesn't make sense does it lol :S. I remember when FOTR ended, just being like 'grrr I want to see what happens next' but I also remember seeing one of them at my mate's house. Maybe it was The Return of the King, or maybe I was just young at the time and didn't get to the cinema as often as I do now :P.
Disappointed that PJ even likes Cameron :(.

I dunno he just seems like a bit of a ****. Did you see the video of the fan asking for an autograph? Was funny when he said that his film doesn't even have a decent plot, and that a 3 year old could follow it :P.
Misawa
21-01-2010, 04:16 PM
Obviously Cameron has proved himself to be a miserable two-faced *******. As far as I'm concerned, Avatar is a stain on a wonderful career: Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Aliens are masterpieces - two of the greatest sequels ever made.

Cameron wouldn't be a **** around Jackson and other directors though, would he? :P The fan asking Cameron for an autograph was just a grain of sand on the beach, no one cares about him. I'm sure Cameron has a lot of respect for Peter.

Jackson's now unrecognisable compared to when he was making the trilogy. Lost a ton of weight.
Neversoft
21-01-2010, 04:27 PM
Yeah, he lost all that weight during King Kong. It's funny because he kind of looked like Stanley Kubrick before.

Have you met him, or any other big directors (other than Tarantino)??
Neversoft

If Misawa had met Peter Jackson I'd have to kill him out of jealous rage. PJ usually spends his time in New Zealand though. He only seems to be over here and in America for events and premieres.
Misawa
21-01-2010, 04:35 PM
I haven't. The only "big" directors I've met are Tarantino, Eli Roth (since he acted in *******s) and Edgar Wright.
You're right about the Kubrick resemblance.
