Recently I found myself using Spotify.
However due to restrictions it's not available in Ireland yet, So I have to make a new account every 14days :( Do many of ye use Spotify and what's your opinions on it?

it's kinda useful for checking out new artists, but i could never use it as my primary music player. reasons for this include: it doesn't even have half the bands i listen to, the annoying adverts all the time and the lack of a 'library' of music - you have to search for what you want to listen to.

Could you maybe recommend a good online music player that works in Ireland.

Some artists aren't even available but overall it's pretty good. You could try last.fm ?

Yeah but online streaming saves up tons of space and you can listen to thinks right away rather than waiting for them to download then finding them.

I used to use it a lot, but more recently I've just gone back to listening to my own music. The only real exception to this being when I want to check out a new band or something.

I like it, it's good to easily try out new music but it is limited in terms of the artists available. Can't really complain about the advertisements as it is free after all (you can subscribe if it's that big a deal anyway).

Although my mate was saying the other day he couldn't get Spotify because it's not free any more if you don't already have it or something? I'm still able to use mine for free like.

Yeah you cant download it unless you get an invite from someone, but Im not sure how you send invites. I got it anyway.

Its okay, I just use iTunes. But if theres a song or band I havent heard and want to listen to I will use it but I dont use it as my primary music player no way... Yeah its useful but it doesnt have everything I listen to on it, and I want all my music for my iPod so I just use iTunes anyway.

This is because SPotify updated so you can't make an account without an invite from a premium member.

I love Spotify. I can use it school. I can use it whenmy internet dies cause I've got premium.

I dont like how they don't update artists with new albums though. (Like Three Days Grace, Bowling For Soup etc).

Still really good :)

I used to use it a lot when all my songs got deleted from iTunes.

Now I don't use it anymore, and I don't think I'll start since you need an invite or something to use it apparently.

nah, if you already had an account then you don't need an invite to re-download it.

I use it quite often because I don't have disk space on my laptop to store music, I don't like the annoying adverts and how all the artists I want to listen to are not on there. I can kinda see why artists don't put their music on there, my brother's in music production and he says that some artists lose money from it... I don't really know much about that side of things though.

Yeah after reading other comments, that must be it. I'm glad I got it ages ago while I could!

Oh, that's good. Glad I joined before.
I might start using it again, but I prefer iTunes anyway, since there's no adverts.

It's a complete pain in the bumcheeks, the adverts are annoying, most new music doesn't appear on it until a good few weeks until after it's released and alot of albums aren't available. And what's with all the versions of the song that are cheesy covers or karaoke versions???

Its ok but now I have a better music library if there is anything I want to listen to I just use YouTube, its just as easy and both require the internet.

Black_Apalachi

The main reason I use it is because my main music library is on my external hard drive and I cba plugging it in.

ive also had problems with it scrobbling to last.fm. i'm a last.fm ocd, so all my tags need to be perfect, and there are quite a few artists that i would listen to on spotify that are wrong. for example, that stupid american Attack Attack! scrobbling as Attack! Attack!, the really nice welsh band

Last.fm auto corrects titles, if that's what you're on about.

Yeah the selection of what is available compared to what isn't is really obscure at times.

Do you know why some artists you'd expect, aren't available? Is there a certain system or something that determines what artists are allowed to be used?

artists/labels apply for their own music to be put up i think, if it's not on spotify it probably means they haven't applied for it. and yeah, the last.fm auto correcter is terrible, nothing ever gets changed if you submit errors to them and stuff, so many artists need merging on last.fm because of ****** tags, but i doubt it'll ever get done

Well i know Oasis havent give permission to be on there. Maybe they're seeking permission from everyone before they use them.

To be fair I can understand why bands wouldn't allow it. From their point of view, Spotify is only for testing out new music to see if you like it so a band like Oasis probably know that it would just be used as way around buying their records. Then again, there's plenty of other ways around it and t's not like they're short of money. I'd probably put it down to Liam being a ***** lol.

Lmao.

surely they must get a bit of money for it, the ads certainly make a bit they're on all the time!

oasis' stuff was all released on their own label, and seeing as they're not even a band anymore, i can't exactly see them rushing to get their music onto spotify.

on the other hand, spotify does have the stone roses, who are a million times better than oasis.

AlexOC

Hmm, Spotify should still try and get bands (or x-bands) that arent on there. I'm not paying premium until they do!
