I made a website called Fresherplay designed to get music recognition around the world.

It works by each song being given a popularity rating and all the songs compete to get the most. If your song is lucky to be in the top 1%, it will be available for download by others to propell it to a higher status. My aim is to create a website which improves the music industry and make it easier for artists to get recognition

You can add your music if you wish to get some exposure.
It's in beta, so the design and features will be improved. Also, more songs will be added.

What do you think of the site?

Your background is too small for widescreen monitors. Also why does it stream from YouTube in some custom player that only plays the sound?

Because it's a music website, and I submitted music to it. You better not have clicked the full screen button

I am using a 19" widescreen monitor with a 1440x900 resolution and it works fine for me. I don't have a Apple Cinema Display with 22" so and I find no reason to stretch the background.

Also, if I made the width 1000px, there would be no content to fill 1000px, and a third of people cannot fit a 1000px website on their screen.

So basically you've put in 0 effort and are willing to put in 0 effort extra. Well done.

I did put in effort because I coded the site.
However, if I stretch the background to fit 22" screens, does that qualify as making an effort by doing something about the problem? Because I will do that later today.

I think it's crap.

Looks ok :) Can't see how it's helping the music industry though unless people need to pay to download or you're paying for the music using advertising revenue. As if you're offering free downloads you're just damaging it :P

Good luck with it though (:

All advertising revenues go towards advertising my websites which give my websites more members.

It helps the music industry by sending the top 10 most popular songs of each music genres as a free download to djs, promoters and other important people called veterans.
I'm basically getting members to signup to get the site big. Once it's big, it will be doing things for musicians.

Atleast use a better free domain rather than .tk but i'd recommend a proper domain if you want this going far. I'd also recommend a new layout perhaps a little bigger?

When I get more members, I'll include a wider layout as I'll have a community or some success stories on the homepage. Yeah about free .tk domain names, it does not make a difference to my success whether I use one or not and that is a fact.

In order for it to be a success you need to change the layout first, it doesn't look right for people using a wider screen pc so you've pretty much lost out on a member here. Little things make a huge difference. What are you on about a fact? Lol, that's not a fact, go get a better free domain or don't expect people clicking that link.

True. When I finish my coursework, and upload my 2 website backups I've done I will eventually.

Having a .tk domain name does not stop people reading a blog as I have 2 blogs with content which use .uk.to domain names. I get found via Google and blog directories and link building for blogs, there not really is alot of.
And it is a fact, sad but true.
