In april 2010, The UK goverment will ban all venues for putting on drinks promotions that are deemed to be irresponsible, However these bans will ensure that the UK's nightclub and Pub culture will be dealt its final blow, And that all nightclubs will have no option to charge full prices thus meaning the consumer will be hit in the pocket.

This is the Goverments way they say off cleaning up the binge culture that has been allowed to run away with itself under the Labour Goverment, But also they are going to impose more tax on Alcohol thus making it more expensive and therefore making more than 2 nights a week out for the average normal person mere impossible.

However while the are bringing in these rules, Nothing is being done to the big supermarkets chains that are able to sell you 3 cases of Alcohol for under £20.00 thus meaning you are able to consume 48 bottles to yourself, However your not allowed to purchase any drinks offers on a night out and Landlords and publicans that do so in attempt to save their livelyhoods will receive a double fine.

This has to stop and another way has to be found, otherwise the whole nightclub and pub system will collapse, venues will close being unable to compete with each other.

In October 2010 venues will be ordered to serve you smaller measures however by that time the price will be higher.

Please send this to as many people as you can this is no joke and i have put the link below, This needs addressing before all the nightlife buisnesses suffer and close.

Another solution needs to be found, and supermarkets must also be brought into a fair line as well

This is the information from Sky, however this doesnt just relate to all in deals it relates to drinks offers that are under the normal price for example, buy one get one free, £1.00 or £1.50 etc etc

If this happens, i just wont be going out at all, and most thwe pubs that have managed to stay open, will shut. The clubs will slowly die as well. I don't think it's right that everyone is punished for something only a few do.

That is absolutely ridiculous, i know like 4 pubs by me which got hit by smoking ban and beer going up that they lost ALOT of buisiness. Most people get hammered now before they go out because its cheaper. You cant give people smaller measures for more than the price of what it is now thats ridiculous. And if they do your just going to go to the supermarket buy a bottle of voddy and drink that before you go out. They arnt very smart if they are leaving alcohol in supermarkets the same price.

itll only be a matter of time until that changes tho.

I'm guessing more clubs will be charging to get in as well now.

Theres only 2 clubs by me that charge. One of them ive never been in because its a black club and i dont have any black mates so id look out of place [no racism intended its just full of black people] and the other is like 8£ already to get in. Drinks in there are like 4£ for a wkd which is an absolutely ridiculous price as it is which is why i always drink in the pubs before we go clubbing.

They kept alcohol the same price in supermarkets when the tax went up in pubs though and the cost of beer etc was extortionate to buy in so it went up, stayed same in the supermarkets. Maybe its because its straight from a barrel idk.

Yeah i always go to the pub first, much cheaper.

I mean atm roudn here its 1.50-2.80 a pint in pubs, depending where you go, and £3.00 for a bottle in clubs, which isnt even a pint.

If the supermarket prices stay the same, i'll be forced to drink beforehand, but going out won't be as fun if theres less people.

Theres a club in minehead which sells double vodka redbull for 1.99 and like 7 shots for a 5£er its the best club for cheap drinks ive been to so they better not put them prices up

The problem is with cheap, buyable alcohol from stores. Pubs and clubs worked well because the alcohol was cheaper there and they have control over who drank it. £3 for a bottle of wine versus £15? What would you choose :P

OMG THIS GOVERNMENT IS SO ******* STUPID!!! ARE THEY FOR REAL?????????????????????

Right. When you go to the pub, do you EVER hesitate on buying a drink because of its price? NO. You don't even think about the price. People want to get wasted or at least have a decent evening drinking with their mates so they will be buying alcohol regardless. This won't prevent any such "binge drinking".

It's just an excuse for more taxes because the problem clearly lies within a minority so a more effective way of tackling it WITHOUT contributing to the country's financial problems would be to introduce higher punishments for binge drinkers who cause trouble in the streets.

Also, *MAJOR FLAW ALERT*...............

HELLLOOOOO!!!! Isn't the whole point to get binge drinkers OFF the streets??? Well congratulations on giving them an excuse to buy a few cans to take down the park. :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Also thanks for completely ruining my night repeatedly for the foreseeable future from April onwards. Pubs have already been destroyed by the smoking ban but this is just pathetic. I don't know why this goverment is trying to kill British pubs when the trouble makers are more likely to go to clubs rather than pubs. Pubs are for people like me who just want a nice relaxing drink and a chat with their mates :(.

WELL DONE YOU'VE DEFFO GOT MY VOTE GORDON.

Bloody ridiculous, especially seeing as the two main gay clubs in Bristol which I go to regularly do a "£20 drink the bar dry" offer on a Saturday night :'(

if this does come into place then the pub i work in will defiantly loose alot of business. also living in Brighton, we have one of the best nightlifes in the whole of the UK. Stopping promotions will kill our city.

Cost of a pint is already pretty high around here
Like £2.80 is common ;o

Yeah it can get upto that round here to, depends where you go. Some small pubs manage to keep prices down to like 2.00, but the big chains are able to push it down to as little as 1.50.

A Labour government taxing us all more & more? - surely not!!

They know it changes nothing, the whole lot of them are out of touch.

Nothing anyone is going to do is going to tackle binge drinking, it's become part of our culture.

Personally I don't care if they tax more on alcohol because I don't drink but I can see why some will be angered by this. It won't stop them binge drinking, it might however stop people binge drinking so often in the town centres.

They banned smoking for health purposes. The government is already spending so much in NHS because of smokers.
Hey lets smoke and kill ourselves and then get the NHS to treat us!!

Bloody ridiculous. Passive smoking is worse than actually smoking.

If they increase the price of alcohol in the supermarkets too, then the governments plan should work to an extent.

This is bloody ridiculous.

I probably won't go out now, because I can barely afford it as it is, £1 entry £1 drinks makes it a damn sight better.

Thought we were meant to be helping the economy?

Labours helping the economy is robbing money from those who earnt it and then giving investing into benefits that don't need to freaking exist.

It will not work, alcoholics and so on who will drink regardless of the price will continue whereas those who are responsible law-abiding drinkers are the ones being punished, the ones who have families to look after and bills to pay.

Thank you, and thats the way the left have always worked - those who look after their houses, work hard and pay their bills are taxed, taxed and taxed some more whereas those who have never done a days work in their life, dont pay out to keep the appearance of their house nice don't have to pay as much tax as the average person does.

The same applies to this case, the majority are being punished for the actions of the minority and the worst thing is that our government knows it won't make a blind bit of difference except for one thing; £££

You make it sound like the ban on smoking in pubs has stopped people smoking all together. It hasn't even reduced smoking! If people want a cigarette they just go outside and have one, even if it's raining! As for passive smoking, I know they say it's worse, but I've been "passive smoking" all my life and I'm still alive.

This proposed plan for the sale of alcohol is exactly the same as the smoking ban - if people want alcohol they will still find a way to buy it regardless of its price.
