Owl City - Fireflies

I didn't think much of it at first but wow I'm actually in love with it now, my favourite song of 2010 so far! :) What does everyone think of it?

Same as Immense. I still love the song but not as much as I did when it first came out because like everyone at my school overplays it too much. X[. Oh the days when no one knew anything about it...

I knew about it a few months ago, when it was blowing up in America. I actually heard it a few times aswell but I was like 'yawn'. But as I've heard it more on the radio I've been like... 'oh, I really like this'. Gutted if it's annoying you already though, it's just going to get bigger and bigger on radio now that it's number one on iTunes. :D

oh i cant standdddd it. i wouldnt mind it if a band took some inspiration from the postal service since i love them, but the singer's ben gibbard impression is cringe-worthy and the production pales in comparison to dntel's. theyre really just a mediocre rip-off of the postal service.

Coming from someone who has been listening to Owl City for two years now, I would like to add that it's one person, Adam Young, not a band therefore when talking about him you should use him, not they.

Now that thats said, I did, and always will enjoy his music. Although since he got the record deal and is now overplayed on the radio I refuse to listen to that song (meaning fireflies) I continue to listen to every other song though. What really annoys me is someone who just found out about him and think they're the **** because they heard them on the radio. I've been listening for two years, before he was on the radio, before he had a record deal, back when he was making music for fun, and selling CD's off his myspace from his home.

why do people get so uppity about a band they like who were formally unknown getting radio play? im sure the dude WANTED to get popular, surely? no musician gets played on the radio then says "gosh darn it i wish i werent so popular!!!!" why cant you just be happy that a lot of people also like it too? as someone who listens to lots of music that few people have heard of, it infuriates me when people say "oh i liked it before it was popular now it sucks." if the radio played the fiery furnaces, animal collective and deerhoof, and everyone started liking them, i'd be overjoyed.

OK, well done, congratulations. I liked Black Stone Cherry before anybody had heard of them. I know it's irrelevant but that's my point lol.

Anyway I think the song is alright, at least I like it more than most other stuff of the genre. Although I think people only really like it (me included) for the guy's voice because it sounds sort of unique.

i hate with a passion people who say they found a band and now hate them because they're "mainstream" if you liked the ban you should be happy they've been discovered by the masses. i'm sure you're hardly there only fan. i listen to a lot of artists who aren't known and i'd love them to hit the big time and get radio air time.

I first started to play in on hxl when i was djin there and it basically become a bit of an obsession for the listeners cause they constantly request it. As its just now in the uk top 40 its obvs become more popular.
