Shut up about personality, aesthetics are important so we're gonna talk about that for a bit. Of course personal taste is going to come into this in a big way because not everyone likes the same looks, but whatever you yourself are into it's highly likely you've at some point thought "eurgh, she's far too big" or "rough that dude fat as init" and been reproached for such sentiments, with phrases like "BIG IS BEAUTIFUL" or "IT'S JUST CURVES" being brought into play. Fair enough, if you believe that then you believe it, but then an anorexic or someone just naturally thin goes by and it seems that they're open to fire for their appearance without any defence, which just seems wrong to me.
There's been an attempt to make plus-size models the new in thing for 2010 (which in my view is disgusting, I don't want to see that) and it gets media praise for showing "real" women despite the fact that these larger women are in some cases clearly unhealthy, often much more so than the skinny models we're more used to seeing on the catwalks. It seems irresponsible to show such people as being better/more real than the more conventional models considering their own ill health, and massively hypocritical of both the fashion industry and the mass media.
So.. my questions to you: what sort of size do you prefer in a partner, and if you have an opinion on it what do you think of the hypocrisy in bringing in plus size models to make a stand rather than simply using healthy people?

I like a guy with a toned body. Slim, but with defined muscles. But with my face beggars can't be choosers innit tom. What I want is different to what I would settle for though cus Im quite desperate.
For example, Jesus has a pretty ideal body.

I like SLIM with a bit of TONE. Can't stand fat people or even people with a bit of chub. Makes me feel sick.

I agree with the thing about healthy models but I also agree that it's not a good idea to keep allowing the focus to being on size zero and being as thin as possible. I guess it's just because I hate how the media uses this to effect people and they become all self-concious which can lead to problems such as anorexia. Maybe that's just cos I'm skinny anyway so it annoys me when healthier people feel the need to become unnecessarily skinnier.
As for partners, I actually don't think I've ever thought 'oh she'd be great if she was skinner/fatter' or whatever. But thinking about them, I guess I subconsciously prefer sort of normal/healthy sized (not too skinny but not chubby).
i think the plus size models arent actually like, size 14 - 18 or something, probably more 8 or 10.
im probably with rob on this one, i dont think like, shed be well much better if she was skinnier, its just a natural thing that wouldnt make me look twice.

Then what constitutes too skinny/fat for you? It's a subjective ideal really as some people think anyone under a size 20 is too thin and some (ie: me) wouldn't go above a size 8 generally

As far as I'm aware "plus size" has to be 12 and above but I may be wrong on that. The fact that the big models are photoshopped to hell (yes, even more than normal ones from what I've seen) to get rid of rolls and make them look somehow toned even at their sizes gives off the idea that they're healthier than they really are, which is wrong as it kinda promotes the idea that people can become overweight and not being adversely affected

I dunno, I haven't thought about it very much before. In fact funny story, my friend (who happens to be the girl I like) was spoken to by some randomer when we were out the other night and he said, 'can I just say something as a friend, you need to eat somethin love'. She's not even badly skinny, she's just normal. She was fuming though lol :P.

My friend keeps saying she has "fat days". Fat days for her are REALLY not fat at all. I mean, she isn't super skinny and definitely not fat. She has a little bit there but that's good imo. As a good friend i keep calling her skinny.. Brownie points ;)??!!!
I prefer girls like that, simply because they don't look like twigs and don't look like they'll part the sea. One day i'll get a picture up so you can see what i mean.
On a side note, when you are at a club on the dance floor and fat people are dancing, its just awkward isn't it!?

You said you dont want to look at ''real'' women sized models. Well to be onest, ''real'' women are the ones buying them. Not everyone is a size 6 or what ever size the models are I know but there should be some variations on it. I think that showing off different size models across the board would be better. Smaller sized models for sections for slimmer people, larger for larger people, smaller for shorter people etc. No matter how disgusting how unhealthy some people might be, dont you think its hypercritical to stereotype everyone as this certain size which they have on manequinnes in shops?
Anyway for the purpose of this thread, I dont like girls.boys that are too skinny because I feel that I could easily break them so a slightly larger, not massive size is my favourite but more leaing towards the fat than skinng ide.

Well that's not what I said at all

No-one stereotypes everyone as mannequin size, it's fairly common knowledge that the average dress size is 16 in the UK which is overweight unless you're like 8 feet tall which most women aren't as far as I've seen.

If i was a fashion designer I would want my clothes I have designed to look the best they possibly could and its a fact that they fall better on a skinny person because they fall they a coathanger
I hate this whole 'big is beautiful thing' i think its just a sense of denial.
Dont get me wrong I am against size 0 models I just think I can understand why it is like that.
Anyway I like slim guys, im not really into the muscle thing
its probably just jealousy on the part of the reporters tbh anyway. They just wish they were that size ;l

not gunna lie, i have pretty high standards for girls. and id rather have a girl that was way too skinny than way too fat tbh. i have absolutely no idea what size i think are my limits since idk what girls sizes are appropriate lol.
and i totally agree with the plus-sized models thing. i think models that dont have an ounce of body fat is wrong too, but to me what they consider "real women" aren't what women are supposed to be. they're only real because people in general are much fatter than they used to be. saying these models are "real women" to me is like saying "well since we dont want all these people to feel bad about being completely unhealthy we'll just make it seem okay to be unhealthy," which is the most ridiculous compromise.
I don't know y'know.
Defo'z not a chubby chaser but don't see 'nout wrong with a girl with curves ;o
Same as don't see nothing wrong with really skinny girls either.
I guess i'm more judgemental on myself than I am with anyone else

I hate it when they use 'curvy' as a euphemism for fat. Kim Kardashian or Kelly Brook are curvy, Beth Ditto is just obese.

I like an average sized guy, a little plump is okay I guess? Toned is nice too :) I don't really go by looks anyway. I go for personality and see looks as a bonus.
