Anyone know how to/if it's possible to stop a certain users status updates etc appearing on my facebook home page without deleteing/blocking them?

when they post, hover over them and it will say 'hide'. click this

Won't that just do it for the one post though?

no it then gives you an option to 'Hide Name'
