Surprised there isn't a thread for this. Running through the first game on my main account to try and pick up some achievements and to get the story drilled into my head before the game hits stores Friday. Anyone else getting?
Moved by invincible (Forum Super Moderator) from 'Console Gaming' as it's only available on Xbox and Windows, both Microsoft Products
I'm on my 3rd playthrough, it's one of those games that gets better after every time you play it. Can't believe just how good it is.
Can't afford Collector's Edition of ME2, but getting it anyway, pumped to say the least.
At level 58 now I think. Hoping to be 60 by the end of it all.

I'm on my 4th playthrough of ME1 at the moment, 100k from level 60, takes like half of the main story to get it lol.
Definitely getting ME2, only standard because I get sweet free armour either way, play on 100%ing ME1 at some point, half way through hardcore and it's not that bad, just hate the fact you need to play the "majority" of the game for all 6 ally achievements. =/

Yeah, you need 4 runs of the game to get all the gamerscore, not including your first run. So in all, 5.

Intro is the best I've seen in any videogame. Ever.

In other news, I might never be able to hit level 60. It's a 200k XP gap between Level 59 and 60, and I've made all the choices and have done all the missions which affect ME2.
Going to see what happens really, hope I hit 60 though.

To be honest you can be 60 easily if you play hardcore.
I'm only 100k off and I've not been to Virmire yet.
Also it takes 4 FULL runs of the game, also depends on the class you choose as well, as I'm a soldier I have to play the game again due to not having any biotic or tech abilities, going to do all the ally stuff on casual with a vanguard.
I went soldier too.
Finished off my 3rd playthrough with most sidequests done on... wait for it... Level 59.
Already planned out my ME2 playthrough squadmates. Since I rolled with just two select squadmates for the whole of ME1, Garrus and Wrex, none of the others interested me.

I'm not sure you can change your class in New Game+
Unless you want to make multiple runthroughs.

Yeah, I'll probably do that.
Personally, I think Vanguard and Soldier are the only two classes worth playing through on ME1. Maybe Adept at a pinch.
ME2 though, gawd, you'll get something drastically different with each class.
Well soldier is good but you wont get any of the "expert" or "specialist" achievements, you need to make a class that does biotics or tech, it's best to choose one that focuses on either of those instead of the one that does both since you don't seem to be able to use all of the powers, so you'll need an adept and an engineer playthrough, you just need them for those achievements though, you also need be beat the game 3 times just to finish the difficulties, once to unlock hardcore then once on hardcore to unlock insanity, then insanity, it's probably best to just avoid side quests on insanity so that'll push you up to 5-6 playthroughs unless you do the ally and ability stuff during your casual and hardcore runs.

To be honest if you're a soldier use Immunity, heal and adrenaline burst and you'll have no issues, if you use assault rifles then hit overkill to remove a lot of the overheating.
Also I heard any of the morality glitches are detectable so if you glitch it then it effects ME2.

I'm doing a veteran runthrough with the Adept class now. Going to max out my skills, apparently barrier + singularity + stasis makes even insanity bosses extremely easy. I'm about 40 minutes in so far, it is a bit harder but I reckon I can beat it if I take my time.

Yea it really isn't that bad, I'm on hardcore and even then the only hard part is the Lady Benezia fight (because of push) and some Krogans because they use immunity and charge you.
I've just got to level 60, just working on completionist because I've put it off for so long. xD

I've noticed the three main classes arent really hugely better than one another, the solider is probably the best but I have more fun playing with Adept

Not exactly the best reward ever but I guess starting at level 5 and having all them resources is alright, I'd like a bonus for having the max cash but oh well xD

Canceled my pre-order with ShopTo and bought a copy off Play.com as they are offering Terminus Assault Armour Unlock Code. Jord gave me his Dragon Age Blood Armour code and my friend Lorant already got his exclusive collectors edition content thanks to the glitch so he said once his collectors edition comes he's giving me the code ^.^
The only armours worth having are the collectors and the one you get from Amazon really, the dragon age one is pretty awful. xD

I dont mind waiting until Friday, gives me more chance to run through ME1 with all the classes. Play hasn't charged me yet for my order so I assume they will ship tomorrow and then charge me. I'm about 5 hours in to my second run with the Adept class on Veteran. Next run-through will be with Engineer, Hardcore. If I can squeeze in a final, final playthrough. It will be Solider, Insanity. But, as it stands I might be able to finish this one and another if it comes Friday. I'm also off school Friday :)
I think I'll have to change it as well, I'm staying with Amazon though. xD

I'm waiting on a payment to come through at the end of the month then I'll be ordering Bioshock 2 and Heavy Rain. Waiting for payment for ME2 to be taken from my Debit Card.
I'll be going with Solider first time around and Garrus plus someone else. I dont know the party characters bar Shepard. Havent really bothered to look.
Look into Wrex, and be sure to do both Wrex/Garrus' missions, they transfer to ME2.
Wrex is a cool guy.

His story about the volus diplomat made me laugh for five minutes, and just smile at how awesome it was.
Can't really stand any other of the ME1 squadmates. Can't believe I actually had a choice to kill Wrex, I would've prefered to kill Kaiden (who I spared). Tali is annoying and Liara is ok, but not squadmate material. More like MATING MATERIAL BRAP HIZZAZ.

Hated Ashley, really couldn't stand her constant whining and generally being a ignorant... BIG STUPID JELLYFISH (+rep to whoever gets reference).
Both human squadmates have awful abilities.
Oh and Suze (Subject Zero) is 'Jack' in the squad menu. Something tells me there's more to her than meets the eye. ;)
I heard choices in ME1 don't effect ME2 much, it just changes who is and isn't in the game, if you kill Wrex in ME1 then he wont be in ME2, that's about it really, nothing as ground breaking as "if you kill the Rachni queen the remaining queens know and open up a story arch" sort of thing, it's just for appearances really.
Bioware hints there's one decision in ME1 that will affect the entire course of the storyline of the trilogy.
I'm guessing it's the rachni decision, or the council one.

It's really only one decision though, they can't make a possible outcome for everything because it'd require a lot of work, especially since the third game would have to include an outcome for every decision you ever make, as possible it is to do minor things like "if you kill this guy these people will hate you" it's not something that's going to be frequent, I think it'll be a council one and one about who takes over if you let them die.

What I did too.
On my level 60 char I killed the rachni, I'm gonna let the council live though, and get captain Anderson in because I hate the other guy.

I laughed so hard when Anderson punched Udina, the sound effect sounded nothing like a punch and Anderson's face expression looked... sensual.

The side-quest "Valuable Minerals" is one of the most time consuming side-quests ever. I completed it tonight but the rewards aren't worth it. You get about 4-5 levels (I went from Level 15 to Level 20). It took me about 4 hours to complete it. Again, probably not the best experience and money for the time spent. Ah well, I'm going for the Completionist achievement on this run. Veteran isn't too hard either.
Order delivered, already at the local post office depo. Coming tomorrow, I hope.

Lucky, but I cant say I'm not jealous although it gives me more time to put into the first Mass Effect. My status on Play.com is "Packing" so I'm assuming they'll ship today/tomorrow and it'll be here Thursday/Friday

Downloading Mass Effect Galaxy to my iPod Touch too, 2 hour game, kinda sucky but a decision and resources carry over the ME2.
Highest rated 360 game of all time too.
Also, Paul, when you get ME2 new you get a Cerberus Network card, allowing you to download most of the free DLC. In fact you get a whole new party character, planet, armour and giant 2 hour sidequest with the first download.

Play are supposed to be sending a terminus assault armor code but they haven't yet. I've got a blood armor code though.
It's been revealed that any pre-order armour or armour set, the helmet cannot be removed. At all. You can't see any emotion from Shepard...

Also, DLC for Zaeed has been delayed due to... uhmmm... nothing really.
Been playing it for a few days now and its rather good. Not played the original Mass Effect so I think I'm missing out on a few things but I'm picking up the story.

My friend from Hungary got the exclusive collector content when they accidentally leaked it on the marketplace. Now he is giving me his collector code when he picks up his collectors edition. Only problem is that it is on the PC, will it work?
I've got a blood armour code plus a terminus armour depending if Play want to send it. I'll assume its coming with the game
Apparently the "giant 2 hour side quest" is just searching for dog tags. xD

Anyway, this game looks really good. It was mentioned in an email by EA, so it caught my eye and looks like something to get :)

Zaeed's personal mission, loyalty mission, is 2 hours long (if Bioware forums are right). They can download it for PC :(

Who has the dragon age armor code? I gave mine to paul becuase I wasnt going to get the game but now I am I wanted it back but he used it, So he is givng me his other code, But I really want the dragon age one now :(

Yeah on the PC it's easy, you can just download the setup.exe for each of the DLC.
Completed it late yesterday... really great game. Not as good as the first though in my opinion.

There are six different classes, 60 different side-quests, a lot of choices. You can play the game in completely different ways.
I like the way the new crosshair's look in the new game
I've started my insanity playthrough on ME1 now, I could probably 100% it this weekend, only got 4 ally achievements, completionist, the mastery and specialist and insanity to do.
Mine said "dispatching soon" so no doubt mine will come tomorrow or monday, kind of hope monday so I can finish ME1.
Got my copy, downloading DLC and installing it to my HDD.

I received my copy today. Play did not send me my Terminus gear code so I've emailed them. I've redeemed the Blood Armor, DLC and someone donated me £10 on PayPal so I used that to buy an Inferno Armor code lol.
edit; Just bought Terminus Armor code because Play probably wont give me mine. The Inferno Code cost me £7, Terminus Gear was £3. Not too bothered as someone did donate me the £10. My friend Lorant is giving me his Collectors codes next week when it arrives.

I hate my 20GB HDD. I dont think there is enough room for 2 discs to be installed even when I deleted everything.

I've got the Blood Dragon, Inferno, Normandy, Zaeed and Terminus plus my friend is giving collectors.
What is the Recon Hood, Umbra Visor and Incisor. Future DLC-content for the Cerebus Network I presume. I seen it when all the DLC was leaked on XBL but I was like 1 minute too late to get a DL in.
To be honest it seems Inferno and collectors are the only armours even worth having, the rest are re-skinned with some stat changes or just rubbish. XD

Created for Earth's Urban Combat Championship league, this set of armor has undergone more field testing than those of modern militaries. Ah that's not bad I'll probably get quite a bit for being level 60 and having max cash then.
I received my copy today. Play did not send me my Terminus gear code so I've emailed them. I've redeemed the Blood Armor, DLC and someone donated me £10 on PayPal so I used that to buy an Inferno Armor code lol.
edit; Just bought Terminus Armor code because Play probably wont give me mine. The Inferno Code cost me £7, Terminus Gear was £3. Not too bothered as someone did donate me the £10. My friend Lorant is giving me his Collectors codes next week when it arrives.

I've just stopped playing. Logged in about 8 hours of gameplay tonight. The game is great although before I came off some missions felt a bit repetitive, that is probably just because I've played 8 hours though. The ammo can be a bit of a pain in the ass sometimes, I am playing as an Adept and you can only use Pistols, Machine Pistols and Special Heavy Weapons (Grenade Launcher, Plasma Beam, Black Hole Gun) and the pistols hold a very small amount of ammo, I'd say 24 bullets including a round in it. The problem is with the Heavy Weapons is that ammo is so scarce with it so you cant use it too often. The biotics are really fun and the new leveling system is pretty cool but it takes a while to level up as some missions are around 40-60 minutes long and I was completing the recruitment missions for gathering crew members for the game and each took about 20-30 minutes each. The reward as 1000 XP which was essentially a level up at that stage. But all in all a good game, I cant wait to level up my biotic powers some more, as you can evolve powers at their final stage to do more damage or range. I haven't even visited the Citadel yet, I've just been doing side-missions and recruitment stuff. Also, before I go to bed the Inferno armor looks so bad-ass. I was wondering where you got the code from, I bought mine off eBay but did any UK Retailer give out the code?

Although the bonus from importing was fairly disappointing, only 150k despite being max level with max cash, ah well, I would of hoped for a few more than 10k of all the resources as well.

So, I have 2 Xboxs. One at my home and one at my Stepdad's. I'm at my Stepdad's right now.
I've downloaded all the DLC possible on my HDD, and I usually just carry it to and from home. I don't usually carry my wireless adapter with me either, because I only played Mass Effect, Pure and Mass Effect 2 when I go to my Stepdads.
So anyway, I have to delete all the data for it to work, so I reinstall both discs and load it up, ready to go recruit Tali.
Turns out I can't play it because I don't have an internet connection, even though I have Zaeed and Normandy Crash Site saved to my HDD. So I go out to dashboard and delete them from my Xbox's memory. I try again and it still says I can't play it because I haven't downloaded them.
So I started a new character, but couldn't get into it.
Nice.
I'll have to re-download, re-install and do all sorts of fancy junk when I get back home... tomorrow.
Weekend ruined.

Final mission gave me the biggest nerd boner, ever. So epic.
I think ME2 squeezes in to my top 3 favourite games of all time.
Now to replay and get all the achievements >;]

I think I'm at odds with my love interests now, and a few opinions of mine.
Grunt isn't the 'savage' he's being advertised as, Garrus is actually more of a savage, he has really changed. He's broken and messed, poor poor turian.
I'm ignoring Jack, after she tried hurting Miranda just after Mir's loyalty mission, which was crafted beautifully. Damn she looks fine in that leather suit... I'm... interested in her now... to say the least.
Had an actual dinner with Kelly, and she's feeding my fishies too, she's still the hot redhead who I want to bunk with.. for now.
Garrus' loyalty mission was bloody fantastic, really showed how much he had changed.
Recruited Tali and did her mission too, which was great, but Tali was never a character I ever liked. She's a great combat member though.

I hated the Samara one, I failed first time but just hit restart mission and got it the second time, quite a good game, I don't think it lives up to Mass Effect 1, although very good it's not that replayable and the achievements don't make you want to play again after beating insanity, shame really, on my insanity run at the moment, gonna rush it, I don't care how it ends so I'm just gonna get the squad together and get the game done without any loyalty, then just do everything else on the character I plan on importing into ME3.

I was hoping it would last like a while, I didn't really put a huge amount of commitment into finishing it fast and still managed to do every loyalty mission and enough side quests to leave me at level 29 at the end of the game and that was on casual, I don't see why it needed 2 disks, I think it was actually shorter than the first game in a full playthrough, although I suppose the amount of cinematics they included this time was huge compared to the first game, which is where all this data is, it should be called ""Square Enix syndrome" - multiple disks required due to unnecessary amounts of massive highly rendered cutscenes and low quality gameplay"
Damn ending was so sad yet cool at the same time

You need to pick certain people for certain sections of the mission. Biotic needs to be Jack/Samara - 2nd Squad Leader needs to be Garrus/Jacob - Tech needs to be Tali or Legion - Escort needs to be Grunt. Plus you need all upgrades for Normandy and loyalty
WOW Hardest type is so hard, First mission I already died twice :(

Go through it with an infiltrator/solider.
Never rush.
Patience.
Do all missions, you'll need the money and upgrades. You want to upgrade everything. This will make life MUCH easier.
You need the right combination, not just "Jack or Samara as biotic" I've seen people choose obvious ones and still have people die, this is what I did.
First part
Tech - Legion
Second Squad - Miranda
Personal - Samara and Mordin
Second Part
Biotic - Samara
Escort - Zaeed
Second Squad - Miranda
Personal - Mordin and Garrus
Final Part
Personal squad - Samara and Mordin
You need everyone loyal and all ship upgrades, that's it, you don't need any personal upgrades at all, with that set up no one dies, Mordin nearly falls but Shepard catches him and Miranda gets shot but survives.
Also some tips for Insanity,
After every single fight, save.
Make excessive use of biotics and tech, primarily Overload, Warp and Reave, when barriers, shields and armour are down use anything like shockwave, push or pull to stop them from being able to shoot.
And when you're on the first planet where you meet Tali for the first time you fight a mech, when you start that part you start against some crates, those crates are your best friend, keep using them for cover, when the mech is next to them aswell move around them, keep them between you and the mech, occasionally it will stop moving, unload Mirandas and Jackobs biotics into it and shoot it as much as you can at those points, you can do that whole fight without getting hit once.
Kelly survived afterward, but you can't romance her at all. CURSE YOU BIOWARE
