Wow, one heck of a 7 year old....

A seven-year-old boy from west London has raised more than £40,000 for the Haiti earthquake relief effort by organising a charity cycle ride.

Charlie Simpson, from Fulham, plans to cycle five miles (8km) around South Park near his home later to raise funds for Unicef's earthquake appeal.

The fundraising total outstripped his initial £500 goal after he put an appeal on the JustGiving website.

Unicef thanked him "on behalf of the many children in Haiti".

On his JustGiving page, Charlie said: "I want to do a sponsored bike ride for Haiti because there was a big earthquake and loads of people have lost their lives.

"I want to make some money to buy food, water and tents for everyone in Haiti.Mods: if i posted in the wrong forum please move it :)

You mean without the charity website? That's what the money is for... :S Anyway, I bet he can spell 'crisis' even at seven years of age.

LOL exactly.
It's not the fact that he's 'exploiting' the crisis, if you call it that. It's the generosity of people. They want to give so they may as well give through here. At Lear you know your moneys going to UNICEF, and you get gift aid.

I don't get why people called it amazing. Some fat ass 40 year old could do it, get the same money and it would be nothing special.

A bit touchy arn't you, anyway, you completely missed the point of my post.

As did you, i never said he's exploiting it.

Tbh if it was just for a normal charity it wouldn't have reached that.

At least you speak sense.

This is all i said, if it wasnt for the disaster, he wouldn't of got anywhere near that amount. Nobodies donating because of the fact he's 7 or he;s riding around a park, it's because of haiti.

Like i said, well done to him anyway.

yes it is for the disaster, and people are donating more because hes a 7 year old. he wouldnt have done it if it wasnt for the earthquake.

LMAO don't try and sweet talk your way out of an utterly terrible comment! :L

If you want to be pedantic, you said he is taking advantage of the disaster but Josh wasn't far off with 'exploiting'. You also said if it wasn't for the disaster he wouldn't have made that much money. HELLO? If it wasn't for the disaster, he wouldn't be doing it in the first place! And the fact that such a young child is doing something so remarkable will have a huge effect on inspiring people to donate, actually.

Sweet talk my way out? Don't make me laugh. I mean you obviously get really hyped up about this stuff, perhaps you should consider replicating his great bicycle ride.

The fact is, without haiti, doing the same thing for any other chairty, he wouldnt get anywhere near as much. If you want to get all excited over this then go ahead. I mean yeh, he's done well and grats to him, but it's not that big of a deal really.
