Do you love the country you live and were born in? If so, why? If not, why not?
Meree.

I love it for it being where I was born and that its my home town, but I hate it for the crime, the weather and alot of the people ;/

I love it purely because i was born here, i'll always be english even if i move abroad or something. It's just who i am, and i'm proud.

I'm only "patriotic" to Liverpool lol. In arguments I always say Ireland is better than England :8.

I think I am, not overly though like Kieran but like I genuinely get annoyed when people criticise England because I was born here, lived here all my life and plan to live the rest of my live being a British citizen too. When people, even my friends are like "I can't wait to get out of this ****hole" - it annoys me because this country is awesome :8

25-01-2010, 05:29 PM
I don't really think it's awesome though. Sure there are worse countries to live in, but I don't think this is as great as it's made out to be. Maybe it looks amazing from the outside (hence immigrants) or maybe if you're rich it's just easier to enjoy.
I only get annoyed when fat little American kids on Xbox Live are like 'British faaaaag' and when they criticise our accents or whatever, I'm like yeah go get your own language lol.
Inseriousity.
25-01-2010, 05:30 PM
Not really. Only a small pride that would make me argue back if someone says our country is rubbish, there's a lot of good things about it too.

i don't really care .... not as though we have anything to be proud of.
although it annoys me when people who haven't even been to scotland let alone lived here start to **** it off o.o

I also hate when other nations make out they're better than England/Britain whatever. Especially places like Canada, America and Australia for reasons I won't go into but it's pretty obvious.

to a point. I am proud of the people who have affected my life positively, directly or indirectly but tbh what reason should i be particularly proud of being british when i had just luck of being born here.

I'm very proud of our history, sadly not what we have become in recent years.

I'd say so yeah. While I do complain an awful lot about the country, I am actually really proud of the country (and still are), the reason I complain about it so much is because I want it to continue being such a great nation like it has been for hundreds of years. So all in all, I complain because I care :)

im patriotic, but not blindly. i criticize my country plenty because i love it and i live here.
I hate my country which I was born in.
But I do like living in the UK. I think it's a great place.

Seeing as I was in the army, it seems likely that I am. I love my country and, more importantly, I love the people within it.

I am very patriotic and proud of the United Kingdom. I hate where I live and know there are some pretty awful things so associate with the UK, but there are also many fantastic places and people across the country and as a nation we have achieved many great things. I'm proud to be British and wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm patriotic of Scotland, yes. The history makes you proud, and some of the things achieved. Recently though, some aspects of society have became, in a word - crap.

I openly admit Australia sucks at soccer, so we should. We have three main "footballs"; soccer, rugby and AFL. I also admit hewitt sucks at tennis and webber sucks at the f1

I love Mark Webber! :O I thought Harry Kewell was alright when he played for Liverpool and Neil Robertson is Aussie and he's an awesome snooker player :8.
Is it harsh to add Steve Irwin to your list though, considering stingrays weren't technically part of his job description..?
OJ I'M SORRY I LOVED STEVE REALLY :(

I don't think Canada is better than England. Having said that I don't think England's any better than Canada either. I would have said a lot more people try and tell me England and America are better than Canada. Although I do hang out around a lot of English and American people online.

Even though I think this country is pathetic (well, mainly the politics) I am very patriotic. I get excited when they mention the Queen on TV and things like that. I LOVE all the pompuss things that take place at Windsor and Buckingham palace.

Isn't Charles the Prince Of Wales and Philip the Duke of Edinburgh?
I sort of cringe when I see people meeting the Queen on TV because she seems more down to Earth than you might expect but everyone feels like they have to treat her in a certain way. I liked Peter Kay at the Royal Variety because he looked like he was just being normal and had a laugh with her.
