In 20 years time. I'm guessing most of us will have an established career or at least a wage by then. So yeah, how much do you want to be getting in ;)

Inseriousity.

Depends what the benefits are like then, I suppose.

hehe oj, 20 years... well I'm not really fussed about money but anything that keeps me (and family, if applicable) comfy in life. £35,000 a year seems reasonable.

£40,000 after training and £150,000 after 12 or so years. Providing I am as good as I want / intend to be.

20 years I'd be wanting to earn about £35-40K a year, however the first few years of course I just want to be earning a little bit to get myself started.

I don't know what I'd hope to be earning. Less than 15k so I don't have to pay my student loan back :P lol jks. If I'm on my own then about 30k should be more than enough.

I'll hopefully be telling you what you can and can't do when you're older then. Civ/Structural Engineer for the win! It's the same sort of thing as you, starting salaries aren't bad (£24k for graduate, £30k-ish after final exams), but the main money comes when/if you get a managers position or project leader and the like. =D

Same really Matt. However, in 20 years I guess I want a family and want to give them a good life and I'd be more than content with 30-40K. Who knows, could be on much much more. Might be on less. Say 30K and if my partner was on 30K too then I'd be sorted.

Well i'm entering the navy at around 18, could enter at 40k if i do a course and enter as a Officer, otherwise will be a specialist and earn about 18k, then whilst IN THE NAVY!! i will be doing a degree so when i leave i think a degree and about 5 years in the navy will get me a job fairly easily. So maybe work myself up wherever i am working and be on about 150k+

Ambitious, yes. But why aim for a 20k job?

I'll be owning my own bakery so I dunno how much i'll be "earning".. maybe 150k+ ?

MrGazet

around 100+ k since I'm going to get into tough fields that require special skills, hence the higher wage

I want to get as much money possible so I can just get anything that I want

By that logic I'll be looking at a £1.5 million turn over at the end of my first year as a homeless man. It's difficult to run a private business and many go under, even if your cakes are extra delicious.
Whatever is acceptable in the future to sustain a decent quality of life but obviously aspiring for something higher than that.

Both my uncle and dad have owned (uncle still does own) very succesful cake shops. The bakery I'm working in now my uncle used to own and the turnover is close to 1m+ a year so I think it's a more then feasable idea. I'm pretty confident I'll be able to earn the 150k+ a year.

So is it a franchise of a big bakery chain or is it actually a privately owned, independent company?

Ontopic: £123,456.78

Loving how everyone thinks they'll be on £30k+. The "average" wage is reportedly around £26k and for that you have to take into account the fact that there are plenty of people in the UK earning 6 digit salaries, so imagine the number of people who must be earning far far below that figure - even with degrees and putting time/effort into your work. No wage is guaranteed no matter what you've studied or what you know, it comes down more likely to contacts and sheer luck.

I personally have no idea what I want to eventually go into, maybe I'll be a vicar so I get a free house or something, then even though the wages are crap I'll know exactly how much I can spend on food and all that rather than having to take housing costs out of my salary. Then again maybe I'll just go into whatever comes my way and hope the lottery works in my favour, who knows

You have to also count the people who have no jobs and are on benefits.. which will bring your average down alot. All of these targets are achievable with a bit of work.

they wont be counted, only people in employment are.

Id like to think id be on 50k+, into a big accountancy firm somewhere, but who knows lol. 50k would support more than a family of 4, and still be pretty well off. Especially if the wife has a job too

Note for those who are struggling to read the title. "How much do you want to be earning?" It'd be the same if I was to post "What celeb do you want to sleep with?" People might post unrealistic things, sure not everyone on here will get what they want to earn, you don't get what you want. I want to be fluent in a 3rd language, I'm not. Simples.
