Yer or carragher, but i think he'll only have a season left in him after this one. Then start making appearences from the bench.

Capello's warning to skipper: JT: Tell me the truth or your FIRED!

england captain is more than leading on the pitch. he has to set an example. it was between rio and jt originally and rio probably didn't get it because he missed that drugs test, i'm just speculating but if that was the reason then JT should be stripped and idk who should get the armband...if james plays in goal, then him. lamps/stevie g aren't captains imo. rooney? barry?

Terry should resign the England captaincy. As someone mentioned above, being England captain is a lot more than just what happens on the pitch, kids look up to him, people idolize him, if he's doing stuff like this then it is not a good example.

If he were to resign as England captain it would take some of the sting away as this 'affair' may not have been widely reported if he were not England captain.

Anyway yeah, he's a great leader, great defender, great captain and great player, but he should resign as England captain for his own good & for England's good and let Gerrard/Ferdinand/Rooney be captain.

CHA!NGANG
31-01-2010, 05:17 PM
I'd have thought it would be: Gerrard, Lampard, Rio, Rooney.

StefanWolves
31-01-2010, 05:20 PM
Take out Lampard and I think you're right.

CHA!NGANG
31-01-2010, 05:25 PM
I'd personally put Lampard ahead of Rooney for sure and maybe Rio. Rooney is personal I think really because I don't think strikers should be captain and also I don't think that he's old enough for England Captain. Rio, well I think Lampard should be ahead of him but that's just my opinion.

Smits
31-01-2010, 05:27 PM
Although he is a great player and captain, i agree with the people saying its much more than what happens on the pitch, and therefore he should resign.

Hmm. I don't think that he should be captain yet. I'm not saying he'd be a bad captain, but there are players ahead of him that have been captain for there clubs for a while. Also, the exact reason why SAF didn't put him as captain today, let him play as a striker, don't weigh him down with being captain too.

Tash.
31-01-2010, 06:50 PM
I don't think Rooney should be a captain at all. He has the required passion and effort i'll give him that but he loses his temper way too easily. Captains are there to inspire yes but also to keep it calm out there when it gets feisty. Once or twice now i've seen Rooney get himself into trouble and sent off for his reactions to losing or a decision going against him. I personally believe it should be Gerrard or Lampard. Don't think much of Ferdinand as a captain.

The thread is about someone's opinion on John Terry because of what his done off pitch. This doesn't mean i have to adress my opinion directly at what his done off pitch, it means i can freely express my views about John Terry. Not mentioning that moderators would of marked it as a pointless post if it was and i don't understand why you're making a problem out of it... my opinion, get over it.

Just call up Baines then to be honest. I don't condone what Terry has done but at the end of the day, he's the best CB in English football and maybe in the world, and if we don't have him at the WC and we have Bridge then we won't get anywhere. Maybe he should be stripped of the captaincy, but if he isn't I won't mind to be honest as he has proven to be a great leader and player and I think no matter what he should be playing, captain or not.
