can these be added? I dont see a point in having a feature like this if you dont allow people to use and im sure people will use it.

For the groups you can limit it so that each user can only ever make one group but they need vip/donate to do this (they can still own and run, edit etc after vip runs out tho) They can also change the name of the group if they like.

Just an idea ya'kno

also when are you changing to vb 4.0... lol and adding new userbars?

I like this idea Graham and although I may sound like a broken record here, it is something we will note down to add when we move over to VB4, because there is no point adding them now to change them in a couple of weeks.

In terms of VB4 I think we are waiting for a stable version of 4.2, last I heard 4.2 is being released early February so I should imagine we should be looking a week or two after that.

Worth waiting for, to ensure we are on a stable, bug-free version.

What will groups do? Sounds a bit like blogs, in terms of how popular it will be.

hah

no because they are used on other forums unlike blogs

No need to be rude, perhaps he didn't see that part of the post.

Anyway, when Sammeth gets back from work in Nottingham Garion and I are going to discuss this with him so it could be implemented before VB4 :)

From what I saw on the test forums, "Friends" is in action over there so maybe we can just bring it across here in the transfer.

That's not trying to cause an argument, it's a comment saying he did not need to be rude. I fail to see how it's at all argumentative, but if you really think that then report it :S:S

@ Rob, atm we have admin controlled groups such as "Pixel Artists" and "IT Crowd", what graham is suggesting is that we let members create their own groups which others can join (on a limited basis though, i.e. only vips or whatever)

By friends, he is talking about a friendship system that can be added where you can add friends which can then be seen on your profile etc :)

Just little interesting things that could be implemented to excite things a little :D

why did you single it out and direct a comment at him when he's obviously not going to like it and react.

get over it because it was hardly rude

I was saying it as a person not AFM... if it was "rude" in a rulebreaking sense I think I'd have done a little more than say it in a post. I fail to see why i'd try to create an argument with someone I get on with well tbh.

Hope my edit above explains it a little Rob :P

It was because I hadn't seen robs post, actually. Believe it or not my world doesn't revolve around a discussion with you.

Lol cheers Oli. I keep thinking though that on Habbox, it would just be abused by people using it to form little gangs to bully people.

there you go again, bravo. you're the admin, can't you let it go? no. you just can't help yourself and have to get the last word because you're immature. bravo.

I imagine it would have to be moderated closely, I'm not too sure how groups are created, whether it's done by the member themselves or whether it has to be done via admin, obviously if it's the latter then we can keep a strong control over it. If I'm brave I could say they sound like "Features" to me so it could be put down to brandon & yoshi :P

Haha yeah throw it on Brandon :P. Fair enough like, I'm just imagining a lot of extra moderator work for next to no advantages as far as Habbox is concerned.

anyway these probably won't be added because it takes a week to add 25 rep points on here so god knows how long it will take them to tick some boxes

loads of work? no you cant even comment on them you just join... a mod would see one just as they would see a post as they display on userprofile and im sure there is a system that makes admin/mods approve them first. And you can create them yourself i think

Oh I thought you would be able to other members chat within them? Seems very pointless if you can't.

Gives members an identity, like the IT crowd and the pixel artist one. I imagine there would be rules suggesting sensible groups.

Groups work well on a forum I manage, friends however do not. They are sort of defunct feature of vBulletin seeing as there is both a friends system and a contact system and I've yet to see the friends system do anything more than simply be a fancifle contacts list.

Although social groups may be a bit hard to moderate - they could be a new take on the old VIP subforums.
