The countdown is well and truly on for the opening of the highly anticipated Harry Potter theme park in Florida. As these artists impressions show, fans of the hit books and films will be able to experience a full-size version of the wizard's magical world when a new 20-acre area is opened at Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open this spring, with Universal still to confirm the exact date. But fans are hoping expecting it to be sooner rather than later with a host of new adverts being released to plug the theme park.

Tomorrow, a 30 second TV ad will air for the first time during the commercials breaks for the Super Bowl - on of the biggest American television events of the year. The official website has also been updated and yesterday fans were given the chance to experience an interactive map of the theme park. Using a webcam, the technology blended computer images and real-life environments to provide a tour of the 20-acre park from all angles.http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/02/05/article-0-082BDB60000005DC-917_634x502.jpg

I remember seeing Harry Potter land being built and it already looked brilliant, and that was over 4 months ago. It's a shame they had to get rid of the cool rollercoaster, duelling dragons, which never had a queue and was really fun!
i went to universal last easter and this was all that was being talk about and advertised and it looks amazing i wish i could go. I don't know when i'm making the trop over there again - sooner rather then later i think :D!

Totally agree with this. I went to Florida in October and I think they scheduled it would open in November but the deadline was set back for one reason or another. It would have been amazing to see it :(

We visit Florida 3-4 times per year so I've seen this section of the theme park being built from the start. Last pictures I have are from last August when it was still a building site. Hopefully it will be open for our trip at Easter, if not; August! :P

Dueling Dragons isn't being removed, it's just being renamed to "Dragon Challenge" to fit the Harry Potter theme better.
Their updated site is really good too, click for the Flying Tour; it looks brilliant.

It seems good but they havn't got Diagon Alley or any other places that we see in any of the films. I hope that under the castle they have the dungeons and places like where the first films ending was set.

Seriously? That's majorly disappointing. I'd only go if they had everything really. They better have the train as a ride with the platform. OMG THEY BETTER SELL BUTTERBEAR whatever it is :P

Butterbeer and ye a platform 9 3/4 ride would be well good!
Also a ride on the things which pull themself from the station to the castle!

Back when they were designing this new section of the park, there was a poll on the Universal Orlando website asking visitors where they would like to eat, and what they would want to drink.
Winners were The Three Broomsticks and Butterbeer and it has been announced that they can be seen in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter :)

Yeah lol! And they should make some sort of ride in relevance to the car in the whomping willow hahaha :P The only thing about butterbeer is they obviously aren't going to actually invent a new drink, and even if they did I imagine it would be disappointing in comparison to how I imagine it when I read the book (the same would apply to tubby custard and tubby toast :$)

I was their during Christmas and saw it being finished built, its absolutely huge. It was all boarded though so we couldn't really see much, just that huge castle that was just being finished. I also saw a rollercoaster but idk how big it was.
Looked amazing anyway.

I think that it being around WDL and all them other places they actually would invent sweets, food and drink for HPW :P

How life size is the castle compared to how big it would be if it was the complete castle in the film?

Its not like big, it looks huge, but it isn't. Its hard to explain, it looks deceiving, but its quite small. But the whole area of which the new part is, is huge.

They technically didnt get rid of it, they're just changing it into a Harry Potter themed ride, same rollercoaster, just different theme.
