View Full Version : A bit more runescape

k just two points i think
First is the Prefix's, the current 4 prefix's need to be removed, in the last month there has been 3 pages of threads on the main forum and no prefix was used for any post, so clearly it's kinda pointless ;P
Also on the prefix's i think a "News" prefix needs to be added, so atleast if you wish to look at the news posts you can search using prefix's instead of looking through pages of threads just to find them, and it'll look neater imho :P
The other point in the runescape tutorial
http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=628427
Theres a few tutorials in that thread, i think a mod/management should go through and remove almost every post
as i know for a fact if i'm looking for a tutorial i don't want to look through 4 pages of "nice tut" posts to find it
After the first tutorial the second one is on page 4, post 39 so there other 38 posts are basically just like "nice guide/tut"
The tutorials should be next to each other so like
Post 1 = Content (links to the individual posts on the page states post number and what its about)
Post 2 = First guide
Post 3 = Second guide
etc rather than it clogged up between 30 posts everytime
Also the fact 30 "nice guide" posts isn't helping what so ever so no harm in deleting them/removing them from public view.

Pretty sure we will remove the prefixes if they don't get used :)
So there'd be no point in adding a news prefix?
I'll get a mod onto the guides now :)

atm most posts are related to a skill etc, not many people ask for help/want a partner in quests (Quest prefix), nor take part in pking other members of habbox (PvsP prefix), nor do they do jobs for other people (Jobs prefix) and i forgot the other one
However as the news section has been merged with the main, people still post the news threads so if a prefix was added that allows members to search the forum using the prefix so could narrow the the news easier than searching through pages of threads to get to a news post :P
Imho the news prefix should be added for like a month, if no-one uses it then delete it, no harm done :P
We will trial a news prefix, see how it goes down.

That's much better although you could remove the end bits of post;
micky.blue.eyes (forum mod): Very nice guide! Well done!
Moved by Neil (Forum Moderator) From RuneScape: Great guide
Thread moved by Wizzdom (Forum Moderator). Great Guide!
Moved by BobX (Forum Moderator):- Good guide for the basics of this Game :) If you have any more to add, please let me know.
Closed by Orangeesh (Forum Moderator): Thread closed due to being bumped.
The first link takes you to its own post instead of the first guide
Looks good guys and i like how you changed it all up, although about the prefixs even if they arent used does it really take up any space to keep them?
Also Jobs should defs get removed as no one even does that anymore due to the Grand Exchange.

Both of them haven't been posted in since 21st or 23rd of september 2009. So kinda pointless having an inactive thread stickied :P
edit: FOR THE SAKE OF ORANGEESH
by 'i think the 2 stickies need to be removed' i meant remove the sticky, not delete the thread/move from public view
i mean close it, unsticky it and just leave it, deleting it would be unfair on the people who did post and its gd to look back on the past and see some drops you got/friends got etc :P

just edited my post after speaking to you on msn lol
I also think a rule needs to be added for the trading
Users should HAVE to post a screenshot of either they're habbo furni or they're runescape items (on the habbo>rs and vice versa threads, or buying pins, obviously not the selling of pins :P)
This would show the people that they do actually have the items and aren't attempting to scam, they should have to say for example
"<hxf name> - Habboxforum.com" or something along those lines
Imho this would reduce scamming a bit as people wouldn't post selling 50hcs 100k each when they don't have the items, where its asking for proof they'd get caught out and thread locked/removed.
If you catch my drift.

Don't agree, no need for this rule as trading is not that active for this.

14-02-2010, 04:52 PM
It's not active due to people being scared of being scammed (as we found through the MM thread) so maybe if they were re-assured they actually had the furni in the fisrt place then it may help
Just because it's not that active doesn't mean another rule which could help shouldn't be implemented imho :P

It's optional for them to add a screenshot.
If they want to add one to make them look safer than so be it.
If not then don't.
Again, no need for this rule.

Other than those selling a bunch of random stuff showing what they're selling but has anyone actualyl shown runescape cash screenshot? :S
Also another sticky that should be looked at is the http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=623553 although it hasn't even been opened a month 3 days after it posts stopped and no-one has replied since the 22nd, so over 3 weeks. :P

I vote no to the screenshot thing, I mean if someone wants to know you have the HCs you say your offering for a pin then meet them on habbo and see for yourself... I have a bunch of HCs i use when buying pins and I'd be way to lazy to post a screenie everytime i wanna buy a pin I'd rather just show them :P
Also to those stickys I think they should stay even though they arent posted in alot they are fun to look at and view.

No they don't which shows it's not needed. If they want proof that they have HC's or RS cash then go on and look for themselves via trade.

Isn't really alot you can do, as you can't advertise it through runescape
Can't do events like you can on habbo as like no staff/admins play to take lead of an event, and not that many people from hxf play it anymore
The RS forums look alot neater than they did before but only so much you can do to make it better on forum :P

This is true, i mean by locking those other stickies i bet you eventually someone else will come along and make a new thread about it and it'll be stickied so it could probably stay although it doesnt matter.
Also due to this thread i'll prob post some of my stuff to make it more active although thats only 1 person :P
AND if you wanna get more posts going in the RS section we could make a 'What Runescape Song are you listening too' thread although that might just result in people just putting songs for post count. Although it would increase the posts :P

Runescape themed competitons, chance to win 1 month forum VIP or ermm some rs cash or something
Like a RS quiz.
and I was thinking, maybe to get the section going again RS-MOTM
Runescape Member of the Month, prize 1 month vip.
Might actually get you members posting again :)

Perhaps a new account "RSQuiz" or something similair, which will post say every 2 weeks a set of 10-15 questions, the members would PM him back and they're get assigned numbers and used a random number generator to pick one winner.
People who don't play RS would also be able to take part as they could look on rs.com or the sticky about useful links
Another one would be if possible hide all posts so only mods/management can see them so you can't simlpy copy + paste another members answers :P
True that sounds like a pretty good plan although i think Orangeesh is the only Mod who plays/played RS so he would be the one always having to make the quizes and such.

We have a Member of the Month scheme as it is and it is categories, so if someone from runescape shines out they can win the games category however we don't have anymore VIP to give to specific sections, we can't be giving out VIP willynilly.

Im talking about a specific Runescape player who shines out, like someone whos done really well and worked hard on the game itself.
I know there is the main general one for the games section, although it is easy enough to disclude members in the RS section from winning the main MOTM one?
Was just an idea anyway, was worth a try :P

nice scott for bringing up a thread with good points and things actually getting done.
something I will say is that the runescape used to be a good community. now things get closed to easy. even if there were a few "nice banks" post a lot of people enjoyed the section. like conors thread Runescape Section Nostalgia. (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=619628) got closed due to spam. yeah there was a bit of spam, but quite a few people who don't use this forum anymore (rashelly, charles, axel etc) actually got posting. hard to make up a community again when it's strict.

can't edit but also
The goals/achievements description should be re-done imho, not exactly priority but yeh
It's currently;
Talk about your runescape goals and achievements and if you have completed a hard quest or got to a high combat level
However, no-one really posts "hard quests" or high combat level, it's more of any level, their goals, and any quest.
Should just be something like;
Talk about your Runescape goals and achievements (levels/quests)
Keeps it simple and not misleading (as you don't just post your high combat levels, you post any level i.e. farming, not only att/str/def etc :P
But as i said hardly important but yeh :P

personally, i think the reason why the section was popular before was because everyone was friends. now it's just groups of people here and there which don't get on. the old IRC channel that i firstly owned then let jamie take over was a good get-together and was always active, whereas these days it's gone to waste. we even got people joining the forum through the irc channel.

Well no becuase now its a different generation of habbox, most users are still friends and infact good friends on habbox and in game, it just seems a few off the older rs members seem to like to bully, abuse, be nasty, and try to cause arguments with the newer members. We have an active clan chat in-game set up by me which is regulary having 6-7 of us chatting all time we are on, getting together and meeting up (such as when i got my 99 cooking last night). We just have to work with the new generation of runescape's on habbox which i think we are trying to atm.
