*Removed*

If SA win or draw this match, they will become #1 in Test Rankings. If India win, they stay as #1 and claim the millions of $ for being number 1.

Today was day 1. India started off well with a quick wicket of Smith who was out on 4 off 12 balls.

Then Amla and Petersen both made 100's before being out (100 and 114 respectively).

Once they were out, India wrapped up the next 6 very quickly.

Kallis 10
AB de Villiers 12
Prince 1
Duminy 0
Steyn 5
Harris 1

They were on 218/1 at one stage. SA ended the day on 266/9.

If India want to win this, they must bat well - especially against Steyn. Laxman is back for this match but unfortunately Dravid is still injured.

I think its quite clear :S

SA might win. SA might draw. SA might lose. It all depends on how India bat today.

South Africa 296 & 6/0 (0.5 ov)

Yeah err, StefanWolves, you may want to reconsider a simple "SA will win" approach :).

I have to agree with that. Looks like India are set for a good win.

Because "we" usually means England when you are talking.

No I meant 'we' as in me, I love the rain personally. And I hope it does rain, just to spite you. :)

After living in Manchester for nearly 10 years, rain gets slightly annoying :P
Like my friends at Uni who have been here for a few months already hate the weather.

Anyway, tomorrow will be the key. If India get wickets, they will be on top. If SA manage to get a lead, then the game is heading towards a draw.

Come on south Africa! I still think in Australia current form we would be good at tests ;)

Haha, only joking Blinger. Let's keep this civil. I'll admit I'm not the best cricket fan, even when England are playing. BUT, this tie sounds tasty.

Day finished on 115/3 with not much cricket - about 34.1 overs.
Damn the rain. However, tomorrows weather forecast is Sunny. So India will have just over 90 overs to get 7 wickets to stay at #1.

They were terrible - shamefully terrible - in the first match. In this match, they have done extremely well!

Yep... Very classy huh? We had a bad series, we were a new team together, if we were to play today we'd be kicking your asses

Your team beat SA in their backyard (who were then the best team in the word), then you faced us and lost. So your 'new team' theory is flawed, also, you had a 'bad series'? wow, that seems to be every ones excuse when they loose to England.

Face it, Aussie, you lost to a better team at that time, England deserved to win, if Aus deserved to win then they would have, but guess what, they didn't.

Oh and believe it or not we beta you only months ago, if we were to face you now we would probably beat you again, because your team is nothing without the likes of Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Hayden.
Get over it.

I thought it was agreed that this thread was on India and South Africa ... so please stay on topic.

Tomorrow decides who will be number 1 in Test Cricket. Thats not Australia or England, its India or South Africa.

How about you stop sticking your nose in and stop acting like a moderator when you are not? I was simply responding to someones off-topic comment. I'm sure that's not against the rules.

Not acting like a moderator but I like to ensure my threads stay on topic and not get diverted.

We did have a bad test series, look at how we played in the ODI series, what was the score? Oh yeah! 6-1. Hmm...

Face it, Aussie, you lost to a better team at that time, England deserved to win, if Aus deserved to win then they would have, but guess what, they didn't.
Face it, ENGLISH, you guys didn't deserve to win, the rain helped you when you needed it during the second test.

We are nothing, huh? That is why we won the ICC 2009 trophy, who did we knock out? Hmm, let me think! Oh yeah! England (http://www.cricinfo.com/iccct2009/engine/match/415285.html), and by nine wickets. And in the 2009-2010 year so far, we have lost only two matches (both being one day internationals) and that was to indai. We whitewashed Pakistan and West Indies in both test and ODI matches. We don't need Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Hayden. We have Clarke, Clark, Ponting, Haddin and Watson.

*whitewashed

my brain is dead on a morning.

Anyway India need 2 wickets to stay #1. Dropped a catch a few overs ago "/ Not what you want to be doing right now. Its a shame we lost over half a day due to weather!

Edit: The second I posted this, a wicket falls! 1 more to go! Chak De India.

Wow! What a match!
Dhoni: 17 minutes left!

14 minutes to go ... and bang! Wicket. Unbelievable. The feeling was just amazing. Amla batted terrifically well. The man is one of the best batsmen I have seen.

Good win by India, who stay number 1 in world rankings.
Top 5 are:

India
South Africa
Australia
Sri Lanka
England
