View Full Version : Forwarding ports

I've tried forwarding my ports, I've done the tutorial on portforward.com (including the static IP one) and it hasn't work thus far. Nothing downloads (torrents) faster than 0.2kb/s and it's an ugly ugly mess.
Anyone got any tips/help/advice?
Thanks.

What router do you have?
Adamm

Huawei EchoLife-HG520b
Everything else (outside of uTorrent) downloads at 500/600 kb/s.

Try DMZ. If you can see a DMZ option on your router config page then use that. You just need the local IP of the computer you need to port forward for.

This is the only thing I could find:

I'm not an advanced technical person by any means.

Disable SPI and restart your router then see if your port forwarding works.

Thanks, apparently my ports are now forwarded and whatnot but my download speed is still slow like 50 kb/s max.

How many seeders/leechers does your torrent have?
Adamm

14/25
25 kb/s atm.

That pretty low, your bound to get that speed...
The seeders are more likey giving higher speed to the 25 leechers.

If that's the case why are torrents so popular? Still getting 600/700 kb/s outside of torrents.

Where do you get your torrents from? Public ones are generally slow, if you use private torrent sites you will get quite high speeds.
I use Newsgroups myself. Because they provide amazing download speeds. I get 6100KB/s with it so I'd definitely recommend that if you are looking for something new from torrents.

To get better speeds use private torrent sites like http://www.demonoid.com - great site and my torrents are always well over 100kb/s.
Piratebay is very good for torrents, as are the other public torrent sites, but make sure there is 3-1 more seeds than peers (leechers).
@Above; yeh Newsgroups are much faster and are very low prices now, they are the way forward.

Try downloading this
*REMOVED*
You should reach quite fast speed on that.
It only a music file that topped the charts lol
Edited by iAdam (Forum Super Moderator); Please do not give links to torrents.

Not your fault, this forum is just to strict and too over-moderated. Discussions can't flow because of MODs and rules now. Watch me get warned for this, just watch. Would be yet more proof of pathetic rules and over-moderating.
Yes this is on topic btw, because the MODs were the ones who changed the discussion by warning him for something pathetic.

It's not illegal to link to torrents, only illegal to host them. I think Habbox should accept this policy but for some reason they don't, and I can understand that but even still... bleh.
Demonoid torrents are downloading slower than TPB ones haha. I have no idea what's happening but it's peeing me off no end.

That's strange, it has to be something to do with the ports that you have forwarded TBH. :/

If it's all done and whatnot - thought there was only one way to forward a port and according to uTorrent it has been done.
I give up aha.

They both seem alright, your upload speed is quite high. You can limit it as it does affect your download speed.
your getting good speeds I suppose, dont see the problem...

I get 600kb/s outside of torrents. I used to have awesome download speeds a couple of months back and that's when I was using wireless, this is a wired connection and it's worse haha. Might just change back to wireless see if it affects it.

You're getting okay speed, but you can get much better from better torrents. Use Demonoid for almost everything as you'll get faster speeds. Yeah limit the upload speed too. :)
