As a toxin begins to turn the residents of Ogden Marsh, Iowa into violent psychopaths, sheriff David Dutton (Olyphant) tries to make sense of the situation while he, his wife (Mitchell), and two other unaffected townspeople band together in a fight for survival.
Looks good! Anyone going to see it?

Another remake...
But, it looks decent from the trailer and the use of Gary Jules' cover of Tears for Fears' Mad World is scarily effective. My editor has seen it but is embargoed.

Yes, sir. From master of horror George Romero.

I don't usually think horrors are very good but this looks like it could be interesting. Not top of my list of movies to see this year though.

It's justified here but Mad World is so overused like this! :P

Gears of War TV commercial used Mad World fantastically. I haven't seen it overused to be honest.

Yep that was the first time I heard it, and loved it. Since then I hear it all the time. Although it could be to do with my school because it was used a lot in productions :P

The original song, however, is still a billion times better.

The title makes me think of a children's television programme for some reason.

Oh God. Get a grip. It's awful. How can you have a depressing song with 80's techno crap in the background? It sounds bloody awful.

The talent of musicians in the '80s was a lot greater than those of the present day. Respect your elders. You're very much alone in your opinion.

Which is why you belittled his opinion by telling him to 'get a grip'? :eusa_clap

I belittle no one. Misawa, director of many films, does, however.
HAHA. Irony.

Hold that thought and find the ratio of those who prefer one of the most beloved songs from one of the biggest bands of the '80s, to a flash in the pan like Gary Jules. I assure you, it would be something along the lines of 34325329509325095290235023529305935932095093125:2.

Hi Sir, no. You are wrong.
Whether the ratio is that many or not, I am not alone. Even if there is only 1 person that like Gary Jules' version better (such as Gary Jules himself), I am not alone as you stated. So you are wrong again.
Oh, and if I shall carry that though out, thank you.

A heightened knowledge of the English language would serve you well. Then you would know that the word "alone" can pertain to more than just one person.
Anyway, this thread isn't about a song that pales in comparison to the original, it's about a film that pales in comparison to the original.

It's a remake. And no one would want to "rip off" a film so awful as The Happening.

i think its quiet like shaun of the dead but instead its zombies
Misawa

Shaun of the Dead was zombies. Inspired completely by George Romero, and was a comedy. The Crazies, a remake of a film by George Romero, is not a comedy, nor contains zombies.

I don't think they were on about the directors, they were just saying that the two films were quite similar. Nothing about remakes or anything...

Yes, well that story is a deliberate rip off of George Romero's Dead trilogy.

I have read that it is a fairly decent remake. I'll pick it up on DVD when it's dirt cheap.

I saw it on friday, it didn't scare me or make me jump (only once), didn't really like it. The acting was a little poor too imo, but heyho. 4/10

Seeing on saturday!
Should be good :)
I saw it last night, I enjoyed it. Nothing special or overly different, but not an awful remake. Had the boyfriend super scared and a friend of mine super scared, but they're wimps in general, so hardly a good indication of anything. Generally though, an alright film.

Was pretty awesome.
Gutted for them at the end when it shows the town they are going to and says 'Iniating Containment Protocol' again :P

It was fairy decent. I liked the voyeur shots the best. Timothy Olyphant really is not a very good actor. The original is still far better.
