Y Not Festival is pretty good, I went last year and will be returning this year, no age limit I believe. Relatively small, just 3,000 people and not the biggest of bands (Noah and the whale headlined) but if you like stuff which is borderline mainstream it's good, I discovered a lot of new artists there.
It's in some remote region of the Peak District btw :P

Yeh last year i went camping near there and i saw posters for it saying noah and the whale and drove past the actual field, looked pretty decent.

Isle of wight festival isn't looking too bad at all this year.
V Festival usually looks good as well.
One that i'm going to this year, it's only one day but the Slam Dunk Festival, just loads of Pop Punk bands really. www.myspace.com/slamdunkclub it's only about £20 ;)

Glasto is the best but next to no chance of getting a ticket now and Reading looks pretty good this year.

Yeah, that's why me and my friends decided to go to reading this year. The line-up hasn't been announced yet but I think it's coming out sometime late march :) It's not cheap but it should be funfunfun.

Can someone explain one thing to me please; how are Reading and Leeds the same thing when one's in London and the other's more Northern than me?

Cause they're the exact same festival with the same line up (different days obv), by the same sponsor and everything. Theres two so the northerners can go to the leeds one and the southerners can go to the reading one. Its that good loads of people wanna go to them.:)

Oh OK well whichever performance is second by each act probably won't be amazing then - with all the travelling and stuff immediately between two performances about a day apart.

you don't know what you're talking about. you're basically saying when a band goes on tour the shows get progressively worse?!

I knew someone would come up with that, but I would have thought during tours there's more time between shows.

Even when it comes to tours they perform one day after another, often for five consecutive nights which is pretty considerable stuff. I don't really think there's any sense to that statement tbh, the likes of V Festival and Leeds/Reading are very successful under that format.

Alex was blates suggesting something similar to me along the lines of it not being possible to have the same acts performing well at both! Leave me alone :'(

For anyone that hasn't managed to get hold of tickets to some of these great festivals coming up, I'm currently working on a great campaign called ‘Summer of Give’, launched by v this year.
The campaign offers 18-25 year olds in England the chance to get FREE festival tickets this summer – we're simply asking people to volunteer their time and talents in return for festival tickets at Isle of Wight, V Festival, T4 on the Beach, Relentless Boardmasters and Creamfields.
If you have a skill to share and show other festival go-ers, then log on to www.vinspired.com/summeofgive (http://www.vinspired.com/summeofgive) and tell v what you can do. So whether it's music, dance, photography, writing or even fashion styling skills that make you stand out from the crowd, v needs your help to entertain at each festival for just four hours a day. That’s it!
18-25 year olds looking for more general volunteering opportunities at festivals can still visit vinspired.com to see how else they can get involved in the festival scene for free this summer.
All the fun with none of the costs - what more could you ask for?!
