Yes, its very, very early to be talking to it - but I do love the franchise and I thought I'd just post some articles I found on the web.

Dan Houser talking about the fifth: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=227291

Funny how people think this will be PS3 exclusive.

Where are people thinking this?

You should learn too that the game industry isn't built on providing the best entertainment or innovative experience but making the most money in the end. That is why they sometimes they cut titles content to make it appeal to 360 owners. Not saying the average 360 owner is stupid and the concept that more than two discs would put off any game owner, but we have to put into consideration that the biggest owner age for 360s is 12-15 years old.

If this means also cutting the PS3 version, maybe even getting a little money from the console manufacturer (games industry is unfair, live with it), then there's nothing we can do.

Because Rockstar said like there's gonna be 3 PS3 exclusive things or something like that or "The PS3 is getting 3 good things next year" - if that was the quote then one is the DLC and another is Agent.

Already been a timed exclusive nest egg for Microsoft

One of those is Liberty City stories, another is Agent and the last one is Red Dead Redemption. Yes it's multiplatform but it's what Rockstar said.

They're both 10 hour games, not traditional DLC in the sense. More like full on episodic games like Half Life 2's Episode 1 and 2.

I found the story line to be incredibly dry, and it never used the whole map. It was just like playing a gangster film, when a little bit of unrealistic gameplay would of been nice to see too. Rockstar were probably worried about the fact they were using New York though :P

I thought GTA IV was one of the most well written and emotionally involving tales ever to come out of videogames. But then I reminded myself this is GRAND THEFT AUTO.

I only liked GTA IV so much because it was the first 360 game I ever played so the graphics and feel was all new to me. I was actually mesmerised by the driving experience of the vehicles. I play it now wishing I could relive that moment. I like to hope the next one will offer something else completely mind-blowing but I doubt it will be much different to GTA IV apart from missions (which are getting really repetitive now by the way) and the odd vehicle or two.

Wouldn't be surprised if that "teaser" poster was a complete red herring either (not that it actually suggests anything anyway).

I must say, I liked GTA IV's Gameplay - I liked the handling of cars - How bikes handled different in TLAD.

The main story of IV was Too serious i think. Hi, Im niko bellic. The end.

I think that going back to vice city will be good, Because its lively, The map was big, but small enough to remember, But who knows where Rockstar will take us.

Nice big map. I liked the Desert areas, countryside areas, and casino areas. A couple more 'bank job' type missions wouldn't go amiss either. Apart from that, I have no doubt Rockstar will keep me entertained.

I seriously, seriously doubt this game will not be a PS3 exclusive.

If it won't fit on a disc, they'll put it on two. I don't understand how thats even considerable as a reason.

Most GTA's come out years at a time. They have got to be thinking up some upgraded Multiplayer, game engine, nice big map. However, they may wait until a new console comes out, perhaps make it compatible with Natal, which I personally wouldn't like, however just saying.

As the article says, this is planned to over-sell it's predecessor - not like that would be hard. Provided it has a decent storyline, and the story in the game goes on for ages, it will be fine. Multiplayer would need to be better too, and alot of people seem to have their little dislikes for the current multiplayer. It would be interesting to see what this one involves :D

Rockstar moved straight onto Vice City after GTA III. They didn't improve it alot, they said that when San Andreas was coming out because they took alot more time on it. The only time they improved the engine was when they made a new one for GTA IV.

Your right to still play san andreas it was by far the best gta game out. What I don't understand about rockstar is why after every game they take stuff out that were in the older games, like for san andreas betting in big casinos was great and buying propertys. They just scraped all that which is so ******* annoying. Although I must say the details in gta have improved greatly, its becoming allot more realistic, although if I jumped off a building I think I'd break my legs :P

It's probably to do with what I said about them being side-projects. I'm glad they keep the main games more simpler while the others have all the extra stuff. If anything, it at least gives us the option to stick with a core type of GTA game which consists of driving around and shooting people, rather than being forced to become a property developer with a gambling habit while juggling multiple girlfriends - all at the same time as protecting da hood. :P

It would be great if they looked at GTA III again. Some of the locations in that game were great. The sheer-cliff in the third island, and the one story mansion in the first island built into the side of cliff which you can go inside and hide. If they made locations like that, with buildings you can go in with backgrounds and scenery as described surround them, then I'll be happy.

I also liked how in GTA III you purposely attacked the police in one mission when there was a police mens ball. Oh and bringing back the car crusher would be fun, it could be useful to make some income - you take a car, and crush them, incorporated into some side missions that aren't too relevant to the game. There were quite alot of fun missions and locations in that game :P I found GTA IV to be too dull and boring, but then again it was based on New York, so it wasn't really going to be original anyway :/

Making the radios funny again would be a good idea too. The radio stations in San Andreas are legendary, specifically the adverts :P

I would prefer to them to redo Vice City, map was brilliant, time setting was brilliant, radio was brilliant. However I do agree San Andraes was amazing. Downloaded it for my 360 like a week ago, do love those old tunes but for funny adverts? GTA IV set the limit, with the razor blade advert "How about frolicle close? Thats not close enough". Just brilliant. GTA IV was depressing but driving to a funeral with hilarious adverts like that. Fantastic.

Not completely based off it though, most of it looks as though it was made up. The only NYC based areas seem to of been done on a zone-by-zone basis, for example the north of third and final island was residential much like in GTA IV (and maybe NYC), but the landscape included cliffs and steep hills. The mansions were really the only key feature that resembled GTA IV.

Although I do agree with what someone else said, about Vice City. The map and the missions were good :) I liked flying around the city in helicopters doing missions, like the one where you infiltrate a mafia hangout or that one where you have to follow that guy in the pink limo. Owning and buying hangouts was kinda fun too, if they did that again it would make it interesting, provided they don't make it a necessity. It also depends on the story too, a Polish immigrant can't really turn into a property developer/owner immediately :P

I'm too lazy to scroll up :P But a good suggestion :) I also agree with the ex-cop idea! It's funny they've not done that yet... Maybe the creators of GTA do not want to stray away from immigrants/migrants/secretive people? That's pretty much the whole concept of the word 'based'. Anyway there were loads of aspects which vaguely resembled NYC, for example; Central Park, Ground Zero, JFKA.

they're all separate games.

SA and Vice City are "spin-offs" so to speak, like some of the CoD games, they are the only two that are not set in Liberty City, other than London of course, hence when it's not "GTA 3 Vice City" etc.

I'm guessing they find the term "side-project" a bit confusing. In a way they are side projects, but the term is usually used for games that weren't intended or had similar characters and maps, while Vice City and so forth were quite diverse compared to GTA III, which was quite basic compared to them :P That's how I'm guessing the confusion came about :)

Ah, I see. I guess the way to look at it is that all the main numbered titles (I, II, III, IV) are evolutions of each other - all set in the same city but just made more advanced each time. :)

Yep, pretty much :) If you look at the map of Liberty City in the original GTA, you can see alot of similarities in the current one:

http://www.rockstargames.com/gta/

It's interesting seeing how it's evolved, especially now the islands are vertical, rather than horizontal (to make it easier to read I imagine).

Anyway, what has this got to do with GTA V? Are we still speculation V is Vice City? Kinda destroys the evolution theory, but expansions like Liberty City Stories are the future :P

Apparently it'll be called Grand theft auto: Vice or something, and apparently this is a snap of it http://www.gamereactor.eu/media/30/grandtheftauto_213021.jpg

In which case the next GTA should be called GTA 4: Something. If you think about it:

GTA 1 & spinoffs - 1st game topdown
GTA 2 better graphics, on consoles
GTA 3 3d
GTA 4 next gen
GTA 5 ????????

they evolve so why is it gta 5? it should be gta 4: ???????

Why? :S There has never been any thus far with a number and then a subtitle. It's just been GTA, GTA 2, GTA III, GTA IV. All the others with random names were just that - random names and no numbers. (Click (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_(series)#Games))

We've already had spin-offs of IV with Episodes From Liberty City so I don't see why V shouldn't be next in line.

I lost all respect when rockstar had the cheek to sell you the game for ps3 and then turn around and say you can't have any updates.
