Hey.

I've just applied fake tan to my full body, even my face.. but only a tiny bit.

Can someone tell me how to avoid it going streaky?

shouldn't put fake tan on face unless its specifically for it..
+ you should prevent the streakyness before applying it.
ie - exfoliating and moisturising.
continue moisturising after every shower to keep the colour even. i had a fake tan last august and put perfume on before... ive had a black mark there ever since..

I never get why males use fake tan.

Anyway, it's a bit late now since you;'ve already done it. But just work on keeping it even.

Hopefully you havnt put too much on.

Why would you put fake tan on if you were a guy? It's going to turn orange and people are going to notice. If you want to be tan, lay outside, or go to the tanning beds. Fake tan makes you look like an umpa lumpa.

Metric, you quite clearly don't know a lot about fake tan. There are different shades of fake tan, and certain people use different shades, hence why some look like idiots.

And why not put it on if you were a guy? Times change, people want to look better, easier. I'd rather fake tan than get skin cancer.

And I'll mosturise as much as possible.

I put it on for 30mins and washed it off, and most of it went off and I'm not that brown, so I've just put a tad more on. I'll leave it till the morning and see how I am.

Who said that fake tan was made for women only?
Good on him for giving it a go, as long as it looks good and not over the top then thats the main thing. Hope it turns out and look good on you x

I've always assumed fake tan is not supposed to be obviously fake. So if I'm right then I doubt all this snow and ice is going to provide a very strong alibi.

I don't need to know anything about fake tan because I don't use it and I never will use it. I go outside and I get dark.

well thats because a good fake tan should be un-noticiable and look like a real tan.

exactly what I was going to say.

But yeah, go for it if you're really sure it's a good idea. But exfoliate EVERYWHERE you apply it before you apply it, and then moisturise afterwards.

Basically just do this:

Fake Tan Technique

Before you start the fake tanning application process, find a self tanning cream or mousse that works best for you - try it on a part of your body no one will see, so that you can see how the colour comes up. Once you have chosen one to use on your whole body, make sure you exfoliate before you begin, using a loofah or some kind of body scrub. This will make the colour go on much smoother and more naturally. Dry your skin thoroughly afterwards and decide where you are going to apply the tanner. You might want to apply some moisturiser to areas where the skin is a bit tougher than the rest of your body, like knees and elbows. This skin can look funny when tanning cream is applied so the moisturiser should give you a more even look.

Make fake tan look natural

Sometime it helps to start from your feet and work up, as this way you don't get lines and streaks on your upper body when you bend over. Apply the cream in even, circular motions. You could try wearing rubber gloves, this is supposed to make application smoother and also protects your hands from staining. Don't overdo it on areas like knees and elbows and when you apply it to your face, watch you don't overdo your neck in comparison. If you want cream applied to your back you will need assistance.

Once you have applied it you should wash your hands immediately to stop staining, and take care to wash your nails, cuticles and in between your fingers as cream tends to gather here. You have to let the tanning cream dry for at l least half an hour, so don't put clothes on or you will stain them and cause patches to develop on your skin. The only thing to do is sit on an old towel in a room where you have some privacy so that you are not moving around a lot. A good time of the day to apply self tanning lotion is before you go to bed, so that you don't stain your clothes, but remember to put old towels on the sheets so that you don't stain them either.

So what's the point in getting it if you can't notice it?

men should never wear fake tan, take alex reid for example, he looks like he has bathed in fake tan, and his wife aswell, look discusting, all streaky, dont look natural.

Ok clearly EVERYONE who has replied in this thread are very deluded about fake tan & spray tan

You all seem to have way over-the-top images of orange people transfixed into your minds, when in fact fake tan does and can look good on either sex.

Although a more natural tan is obviously going to get a better outcome, that is not an option for some people, have you ever considered that?

Anyway, to start off you should have had a shower to get off all the dirt and oil from your body and face, but as you have already applied it we will skip this

To get a more even look, make sure it is applied in the desired areas evenly and rub it in smoothly. This is to ensure you dont get dark & light patches.

To stop smearing, dont apply too much. In this instance, less is definatly more. Don't go overboard, apply little bits evenly untill the desired shade.

A few other tips:

Dont forget the NECK! A dark face & pale neck don't look good!
Wash your hands regulary. This is to prevent dark hands which always looks bad
Sometimes you get special 'gloves' in fake tan kits. I reccommend you use these as this will contribute to a natural, streak free tan

Yeah keep it even but what a few people do which i think does work is they put a layer of vaseline on first then apply it or use moisturiser first then put it on.
