Green Day - What type of music are they?

Right Green Day are my favourite band. I believe they are punk yet some ppl say they're indie and some say they're emo :p what do you lot think?

They arent unique at all. Have you ever heard of the clash? They were inspired by them. Green day even did a song remake they did. Listen to them, and you'll see. There are bands that have been around longer. Emo was around when green day started, it just wasent the same type as today.

Right okay. Hell, I've said this before and I'm stickin' by it - their old stuff is better. Along with the fact their newer songs off "American Idiot" are complete crud, I guess I'm also not too keen on the new 'crowds' they are attracting (people who haven't seen past their popular and manufactured songs). Greenday have been around for years, why the sudden obsession with them now? But then again, they're doing well so congratulations for the band in become a success.

lol. I've also had one person go on about how she's going to a GD concert....of course the phrase "Billie Joe is hot!!!" was every other sentence. And then she insisted you have to wear green. WTH!? MCR in my opinion have gone mainstream too. I bet quite alot of you haven't even heard their old album? I bet you think Three Cheers is their debut. They have become sellouts, they never used to wear eye liner and make up but ever since they have they have been labelled emo and now EVERYONE loves them. Now go out and buy I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love adn then find real emo.
