Reminded me of that other film about some couple and a puppy at first, then it seemed like a cross between Due South and Lassie but the fact that it's based on a true story probably sells it to me :P Sounds like a nice tale - although I think the trailer just told me the whole story; which essentially seems to be the same as a part of one of the original Lassie movies when she sits at her master's graveside for days and days.

:P Anyway were you saying that the original real life story happened in Japan, and is the statue to commemorate how the dog sat in the same place for so long? Pretty nice little touch by the local people, if that's the case.

I saw this film and it was so sad! It's not the best film ever but like it's extremely sad.
The professor rescues a dog that has been left at a train station when he comes home from work and the dog becomes really attached to him and follows him everywhere so when he goes to work the dog follows him to the train station and waits at the train station for him to come home and then one day at work the professor has a heart attack and dies and then the dog is still there waiting for him. The professors family takes the dog home and then it breaks out from the home every day for many many years and waits for the professor to come home.
I've probably missed details out but it made me hysterical.

God, I cant stop the water works. Crying like a river after seeing it :').
I don't normally cry at movies but this is really sad and because it's a real life story, it makes it even more upsetting. That poor dog sitting in that spot for 10 years waiting for his owner to return :( it's too much.
i watched it and it didnt make me cry lol, yeah it was very sad and omg i loved it :(

i watched it wid you and also didn't cry, and we agreed that it got kind of boring and we wanted it to be over BUT
the doggy was so cute
It's a "meh" kinda film. The fact that it is based on a true story is very touching and heart-warming, but it really isn't its best.
