So, I was re-watching Torchwood: Children of the Earth yesterday and decided to make this topic.
In the show, the aliens want 10% of the Earths children, and in the show the government are going to hand them over.

Now, remember that these aliens would probably destroy us all if we resisted. They are using the children as drugs.

If this happened would the government give them the children?
Would you let them?

I personally wouldn't, it would be horrible being used as a drug.

Three younger sisters and two younger brothers. All but one (Amber / Glitter on this forum) are classed as children. This is why my first inclination would be to fight, if it were feasible. If not, the sacrifice of 10% of the world's children (hopefully not my siblings) would be a small price to pay to prevent the extinction of humanity.

It would depend on my situation. I dont think I am considered a child anymore, but i wouldnt like it if ten percent of the kids were taken. That would be horrible. Its like that in corrupt countrys to this day.

Do we know what they intend to do with our children (i.e. what is meant by 'use as drugs')? I'd probably be inclined to agree with Garion - in about two months my brother will be 16 which I'm guessing makes him legally not a child lol and there are no other kids in the family. This is clearly a very selfish direction to take though :P

I should have made it clear, they're prepubescent kids, not teenagers.

They're hooked up to an alien creature and kept alive and have their chemicals fed into the creature. They're conscious the entire time and in pain, kept alive for years beyond normal.

no, i'd go for the all die option. i couldn't sacrifice other people for my own good. however, on saying that, im actually killing others by not agreeing but i couldn't give a ****.

I do have some children in my family, extended family that is, which I wouldn't like the idea of being in pain. However, I think i'd be inclined to take the risk. I'm not a child, therefore I don't care much :)

It would make things alot easier. As long as the children got picked by us though. Like, keep the polite kids, give'em the rude ones.
