Labour’s equality chief has called for a revolution to strip power from the 'sharp-elbowed' middle classes.

Trevor Phillips said there should be 'positive action' to stop them 'jostling their way' to better education and jobs. Mr Phillips, who heads the Equality and Human Rights Commission, said: 'We need to kickstart a new equality revolution. 'The most blaring and substantial thing that best predicts disadvantage is class and place: who your parents were, what they did and where you grew up. 'At the moment there is too much advantage given to people who shout loudest and have too much knowledge.'

He criticised universities which allow professional parents to phone up the morning A-level results are published and secure places for children who have failed to get the grades they need. 'We don't let anybody ring up,' he said. 'We don't let sharp-elbowed people... we don't let them just jostle their way.' In particular, he said in an interview yesterday, there should be reform of who gets into Parliament. 'We need to stop discriminating in favour of these white middle-class lawyers,' he added. Mr Phillips was controversially re-appointed as head of the £70million-a-year quango by Equality Minister Harriet Harman last year despite the resignations of several commissioners who criticised his management style. What a complete and utter clown. I wonder if himself and his fellow left-wing friend Harriett Harman include themselves as they are both on fantastic wages and both apparently send their children to private schools. As usual its 'do as I say not do what I do' and where are David Cameron and the Conservatives concerning this? - its almost as though they want to loose the election; so come on Cameron and the rest of you, start pledging to scrap ridiculous and border-line racist commissions like this and you'll be onto a landslide victory but of course they wont because they are nothing but BluLabour.

The latest opinion poll puts the Tories only 2% ahead of Labour in the polls which would lead to a Labour victory.

He hates what he describes as the 'middle class' because hes part of the ruling class on his enormous wage. As usual the Labour Party and its marxist equality minions attack people who work towards a goal and wish to do well in life and I quote "too much knowledge". In other words; they hate the notion of people bettering themselves and will stop at nothing to prevent that with their equality bills and so forth.

Thoughts?

Inseriousity.

"Too much knowledge" sounds to me more like he's attacking the way that middle class have more knowledge of the education system (and can therefore manipulate it for their own means) where working class don't. It's completely naive to suggest that middle class get their way through merit, that's not how it works.

Unfortunately, as you said, these same ministers are also part of the middle class elite, who are simply trying to appeal to the working class voters they have lost during the economic downturn.

I assume like all politicians he speaks from experience, coming from a rich background, being boarding school and top university educated. If he has children I very much doubt they're in state schools either.

All parents and children try and get into the best schools, whether or not they make it is based on merit. Enough of this 'lower class dont know' and so forth 'disadvantaged' - you dont get by in life by shouting about your class, gender, sexuality and so forth. The middle class do get by on merit because this is quite harsh but lets be frank; generally the 'middle class' will try harder because they want to do better and strive to better themselves.
