BBC 6 Music and Asian Network are facing closure, Mark Thompson, director general of the corporation, has said.
Speaking to staff, Mr Thompson also announced that half of the websites on BBC online will close by 2013.
Among the closures will be teen services Switch and Blast, with Mr Thompson admitting Channel 4 should lead the way with these audiences.
The strategy review has now been submitted to the BBC Trust and a three month consultation will take place.

It will also move to a more international focus, deriving at least two-thirds of its revenue from outside the UK by 2015.

Why are they dedicating a large amount of revenue to international operations? Surely the BBC wants to remain more British oriented.

Good, maybe it should also stop paying its management absurd salaires and stop wasting money on its offices. The sooner its privatised the better.

Quite a wide range really, their current playlist is here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/listen/playlist.shtml).

Things like Mumford & Sons, Vampire Weekend, Yeasayer..

It'd be a shame to axe this station, as well as the online content.

Too much competition with online radios now though, this doesn't surprise me
