What do you mean by "ideas" and shouldn't this be in Design and Development?

If you're going to be designing it then you will have to come up with it yourself. People can only give feedback on what you've done, not do it for you otherwise they are making it and not you, if you see what I mean?

lolkyle, I knew you'd return.

You need to design it yourself you've most likely told your school that you can design amazingly, never the less for a school your looking at a formal design nothing blazing the eyes, but nothing dull and boring.

Yep the image quality is horrible. Umm i aint told them im redesigning it, Im just doing it to see how it would look like. If it looks good then il show them but if not then i wont.

Schools fail by saving the wrong images in JPEG, they never heard of PNG.

Better colour scheme. Maybe look at theirs? To be honest I'd consider starting again...

Okay but i need to keep the blue colour the same like as the 'background' urmm is it the black boxes because they will be totally changed when images and that have been added that was just the 'base'.

why don't you just use a habbo layout and tweak it up for your school, it will look soo cool.

You shouldn't use png format on a website but infact use gif and optimise all your images. You have to remember that not every has a fast internet connection, especially if your including hundreds of images for the design. Alot of png's loading isn't good at all.

Are you deadly serious? REALLY?

No.

Habbo layouts are kinda childish, I mean if a school wants a pro looking web design, they should look to "kids" to do the dirty work for them, they should pay someone proffesional to do it...

Totally wrong.

http://www.w3.org/QA/Tips/png-gif

"PNG also compresses better than GIF in almost every case (5% to 25% in typical cases)."

Also note the list of improvements over GIF.

Tomm, Read the winners of the photography thread you won and you need to make a new topic.

Slightly off topic :P I've not checked that forum in a while - I'll go take a look now.

Some on-topic stuff:

Um, photographs typically compress better in JPEG than PNG :D

To be honest Kyle. If you do not have a imaginative mind then design isn't for you. Design isn't always just getting inspiration and abducting the same styles as other website.

It's letting your creativity flow into creating something innovative and unique.

But, if you do continue. Light blues, whites, light greys are always a winner for simple professional designs. :)

I think their current layout looks really old and boring. If you're gonna' make a new one, make it more modern and inviting.

I think you'll find this is the way of doing it. Lol

I'd suggest the use of a CMS like Joomla. It's free, easy to implement and the templaates allow the site to look nice.
