London MCM Expo - May 2010

It's that time of the year again. Tickets went on sale a few days ago. This year the event will take place on the 29th and 30th of May. Anyone on here going?

I'll be going again, as always. It'll be my fourth Expo. :D Recently they seem to be going for a world record at every expo. Last time they attained the world record for the gathering of most people dressed up as video game characters. This time they're going for the 'largest handheld game console party', choosing the DS as the console. I'll borrow my brothers DS and take part. Should be a lot of fun. :8

No guests announced yet but I'll post them here when they are.

Also, the Sci-Fi London Anime All-Nighter is at the beginning of May as well, and my birthday is on the 20th of May. It's gonna be a good month. :D

You could tag along if you wanted, but you don't have to go with someone. I often walk around by myself for a few hours each day at the expo. It's fun meeting new people with such similar interests. If theres a Gintama meet up taking place I usually go to that as well even though I don't cosplay. :P

ANYWAY if i decide to go i wont be cosplaying, i may be wearing a strawhat but thats it xD i do hope to cosplay as either zoro or sogeking one year but id want my cosplay to be perfect but i dont have the motivation to do it like some people.

Yes but its still a 6 hour train ride, On my own, to then get a room for the night on my own. And dont have the money for all that. Theres no dvds being released at the moment aswell. I wish i had gone to the last one for BONES. but bleh.

If there was a Guest i was intrested in, Bunch of releases i wanted to pick up, and i had people meeting me or going with me i'd be more tempted to go. + Its this weekend which i'll be working and my mate just got sacked so understaffed. I'll be keeping my money for August when i go down to london.

Also was on habbo for 1st time in a while. and because of the whole merge with hotels tempted to make a room for anime/manga. i have quite alot of stuff.. and can always have a sticky up telling people to visit here so we can get more people visiting. But if it was made would of you visit it? dont know if any of you's still go on it xD but would mean can chat to other people and cos of the merge bound to be lots of people who watch anime or read manga.

I just got back. Such an amazing weekend. I had such a brilliant time. I bought quite a lot and surprisingly a lot of things were very cheap, but I was more interested in the cosplay this time around. I didn't cosplay myself, but I was sporting Sougo's eye mask from Gintama over my hat. The only two Gintama cosplayers I saw immediately recognised it. The Kagura cosplayer seemed so sad when I told her I bought it from ebay and not from the Expo. Perhaps I should have given her it.

I didn't bother meeting any of the guests as a lot of them were charging for autographs, but I didn't really care for anyone there anyway. The cosplayer masqurades on both days were amazing - especially the Tekken performance on Sunday and there was this cross-dressing legend on both days called Steve. We also broke the world record for the most amount of people gathering to play their DS. It feels good being a world record holder. Oh and I saw British J-Pop artist Bentley Jones live twice. He was pretty cool - I might invest into more of his music.

I got many pictures of cosplayers - will probably put them up on YouTube and the best ones on Deviantart. I'll post the stuff I bought in the collection thread later, but for now its time to go and find myself on YouTube!

The songs Bentley played at the Expo were pretty cool. Nice n' catchy. The audience weren't that lively though. Well... besides me and a few others.

I went on Saturday, it was alright, I guess. I ordered an early ticket, but I still had to go in at the normal time. I enjoyed the Alienware section and the Dr Who bit.. that's it tbh :P

Although the Expo started out with the intention of attracting fans of all kind of media related mediums, it has very much become solely an anime event. There are still elements for sci-fi, film and television fans to enjoy, as well as a rather popular gaming section with all of the upcoming must play games, but it is really the anime fandom that brings everyone there.

I missed May :( But cause it's my b-day soon, I'm gonna ask my parents for tickets to october :) I wanted to cosplay as Miku Hatsune but it was too expensive, so if I get to, I might cosplay as Yuki Nagato :D ^^

I did attempt to count the Haruhi cosplayers but forgot I was counting after the sixth one. I guess there were around 20+. Surprisingly this was the first Expo where cosplay has been one of the main sources of my enjoyment, despite it being my fouth time attending the event.

Hanging around outside on Sunday was fantastic. The atmosphere out there is just great. People are having picnics, there are giant conga lines, massive groups of people started singing the Pokemon theme tune out of no where, others were dancing in sequence and of course you have the now traditional caramelldansen and the free huggers.

I might cosplay as Friend from 20th Century Boys (http://www.mangaspain.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/20th-century-boys.jpg) in October. It'll be my fifth Expo so it's about time!

Were they Nagato's or Cross's? If I don't get the Nagato cosplay, then I'll probably cosplay Kyonko. :)
