Extra small condoms for boys as young as 12 could soon be on our shelves.
The Hotshot condoms are going on sale in Switzerland after research found that not enough 12 to 14-year-old boys were having protected sex.
The condoms are likely to end up on sale in Britain, said their manufacturer Lamprecht AG.
A spokesman said the UK would be ‘top priority’ if the company expanded abroad, considering it had the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe.
Nysse Norballe said: ‘At the moment we are only producing the Hotshot in Switzerland.
‘But the UK is certainly a very attractive market since there is a very high rate of underage conception.’
A standard condom has a diameter of 52mm in comparison with the Hotshot’s 45mm. Both are the same length – 190mm.
According to a study of 13 to 20-year-olds, a quarter said that a standard condom was too large.
Hilary Pannack, of teenage pregnancy charity Straight Talking Peer Education, said: ‘We know young people are having sex and if this is what it takes to protect them, we need to go along with it.’

Watch as most of HxF take the mickey out of it and then buy some for themselves lol.
tis a good idea tbh, I mean kids are having sex and you've gotta compensate and not shadow them out as a minority. think its probs the best idea for this country yet.

Weighing up the advantages and the disdvantages, it is a good idea
A little embarassnent is definatly better than being a father at a very young age

Might buy some for a laugh, does that mean 12 year olds can buy them?

That's a good question, as they don't really wanna hand them out but anyway it's kinda funny. Now sex ed can be practical AND safe :P In a sense it encourages ppls imo as my irregular small penis is now ready to go get it on LOL jokes. But there probably would be a few people in my school who will be like, oh they have condoms now lets go get some sexual intercourse of such. Then again they'd do it with their teddy bear anyway so unless they have STDs I'm sure it's not needed.

Anyone can buy them. Why would they restrict it? It would just make teen pregnancy rates even higher.
Well actually, condom size is based on the thickest part, so small would mean you're thin, not long

I would doubt if they would be available on the shelves if marketed for 12/14 year olds but if they were supplied to family planning clinics then it would be a good idea.

The legal age for sex is 16, yet you can buy condoms for boys 'age 12'.
Excellent idea.

It is true it sounds stupid, but we can't physically stop kids having sex, so they may as well be prepared :P

True then we would have sizes, extra small, small, medium, large and liar. :P
to be fair the chavs that will have sex at 12 don't give a **** what they're buying so yeah once they're out there it's just something else for the government to say "we have done all we can so we wash our hands of it".

Didn't someone say the length was the same as a normal condom just the width was 9mm smaller to fit someome who hadn't fully gone through puberty. @Robbie, surely its best for them to prevent it as much as they can if people are going to do it. Obviously the law stands but there will always be those who wont listen to it.

they ban adverts, tv programmes etc for apparently "advertising sex" to young people, yet now they make condoms for them? of course it's a stupid idea! yeah, it's an advantage for those who are 12 and having sex... but still, it's stupid.

This is insane!
I mean, it's good that they're providing protection for the obviously silly 12 year olds who are oblivious to the growing number of teenage pregnancy, yet at the same time, it's almost saying 'Yeah, we'll give you a good deal, you can keep the underage sex, but cut out the pregnancy!'
Why not roll out the wagon and remove the law for underage sex?! or whatever it is...

To add to the above comment from N-Dubz, we have banned fast food adverts and so on but selling condoms to 12 year olds? - hey no problem!
The nanny state as its best.

Well at least these 12 year olds will have prior experience putting them on and taking them off, if they've ever eaten a pepperami that is.

But, this is just a company saying that if they were to expand then they would come to the UK.... so why is everyone bringing the government into this.
It's better for them to be protected than not protected anyway

I don't really get the point of this considering you can get them in different sizes anyway. As for what a "standard" size was that got mentioned earlier in the thread, I'd be interested to know what brand they would call standard, seeing as how different brands do have different fits, and whilst Durex is probably the best known here the biggest European seller is Pasanté which are already significantly less girthy.
That aside, if a 12 year old is too immature/embarassed to buy condoms (or even go to a clinic and get them free) then there is no way they'll buy one specifically designed for a small penis. Can anyone really imagine someone who wants to be the height of cool waltzing into a chemist and asking for the mini condoms?

this is a good idea for protection but its ridiculous.
12 year olds shouldnt be having sex anyways tbh. but the governments should make more of an effort to stop them and SHOW THEM THE DANGERS. I know that after seeing STI pictures, I am scarred for life.

They shouldn't aim it just at 12 year olds, not saying that I have a small penis, but for the people that do, they could use these.
And also, aiming at 12 year olds, that's just going to make it seem like underage sex is ok? They should advertise it more as "practise makes perfect" and tell the boys that they should practise wearing them and putting them on, so when they have to when they are older, they know how.

For who they're marketing this at, it just seems very, very wrong.
