Finally Microsoft have combined their Windows OS, Xbox 360 and Windows Phone for something useful. Cloud gaming!

Developers will be able to code games for just Windows OS, and be able to port it to Windows Mobile and Xbox 360 no trouble, requiring hardly effort for them.

It also benefits the consumer too, you could play the game on your Xbox 360, save your progress online, pick it up on your phone, then turn up at a mates house and continue on his PC. That is awesome.

It's the same game, the same code, compiled to run on three different Microsoft devices. It's integration or hardware feature creep -- GPS, a stopwatch, calculator and mobile phone -- but for software.

Apple, with its locked-down, isolated sandbox is in trouble. Do game developers have any reason to continue working on games for the iPhone or iPad now that Microsoft is offering so much more?
Not only is this a huge boon for developers -- all they have to do is write different code for the device's inputs -- it's also massive for gamers. You can be playing a platform game on your Xbox, save it, and continue playing on your mobile phone on the way to work. Now, given Microsoft's renewed focus on cloud computing, imagine saving your game to the cloud -- head over to your friend's house and continue playing on their Xbox. Or their PC, if they don't have an Xbox.

To be fair, there are a limited number of games that could run on all 3 devices anyway. You're hardly going to be running CoD6 on your phone for example xD Plus games for mobile phones are not really as fun on console/PC when there are games designed for those platforms you can play instead.

Not sure about the phone part, but the integration of Xbox 360 and PC gaming sounds very promising :)

tbh, this is gonna be an epic fail.

The people who have xbox obvs cant afford a real console (ps3) therefore they wouldnt be able to afford a high spec pc to run the games on :)

I could be completely wrong about this statistic, but I had thought more people played online on the PS3 than the Xbox.

It has Final Fantasy and COD. That seems to be enough for most :P

Not strictly about online but I'll refer you to the games section of this article (http://www.hardcoreware.net/playstation-3-vs-xbox-360-one-year-later/).

I don't have an article about the online being more/less than each other because it would hard to gauge how many PS3 users are online and whether we're counting both XBOX Gold & Silver and the such, however, there are at least 2.2million XBOX Live users online at any one time (during 2009).

I can refer you to this article (http://www.blippitt.com/xbox-360-sales-hit-30-million-live-subscribers-hit-20-million) though. That's 66% of users that have purchased an XBOX 360 have gone on to purchase XBOX Live - justifying it's price maybe? That article, however, is over a year old and it says it's up 28% from the year before - a swift calculation means that around 27 million XBOX Live users, give or take a few thousand.

I do own an XBOX, however I don't go on it as much as I'm going from console > pc so I don't really have a biased opinion on the console war, I just don't like it when people make claims and don't back them up or just make ridiculous claims in the first place. That said, I think everybody can agree that XBOX Live > PSN.

COD appears to be all that people actually play. For all most people I know with a PS3 care, they could just ship it with COD on the HDD and no other way of getting games.

I've got a PS3, and barely know what CoD is :P Mine is used as a blur-ray/DVD player though. I like how it upscales DVDs, although watching Small Soldiers last year was weird, it felt handheld camera like.

Anyway, that's beyond the point. Microsoft helped with raising money for Sports Relief too :)

Lew.I'm always up for a good flaming but with you I've got nothing. Words can't describe how stupid your post was.

PS3's have just as many games as the 360 now.. That excuse is long gone and could only be used within the first two years of the PS3's release.
The 360's online definitely is better, but it definitely should be if you have to pay for it.
And of course there are more 360 online players; the online game-play crushes the PS3's, although in my opinion, the PS3's online community is a lot better.
And the PS3 is known for a lot more than just CoD, there's LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, its great motion controlled games like Flowers, and whatever that one game's called with the kung-fu animals. o-o.

Anyways, both consoles have their good and bad points, really just depends on what you have, your friends have, and what's more enjoyable for you.

On topic; it's a great idea, although I do agree with one of the previous posts. Mobile games aren't going to be as good on PC or 360, and vice versa.

I'm always up for a good flaming but with you I've got nothing. Words can't describe how stupid your post was.I agree... I know a few wealthy people who chose 360's over the PS3... but which game console you buy does not define how wealthy you are, it's a matter of preference.

Sounds interesting this does, could be good.
