Whats going on with youtube recently?

Every video is suddenly either taking ages to load, even in lowest quality. Its not my internet connection and i've tested my speed numerous times both with a decent 7mbps and 25m/s ping - nothings changed there for years. But just a couple of weeks ago youtube seemed to start getting slower, every other site is fine and just as fast. Has anyone else been experiencing this? I'm using Virgin Media if that makes any difference.

I've had a few issues with some videos on youtube but it seems to be on a per video basis rather than in general.

To be honest this seems to happen intermittently with me with streaming video in general. It may just be server issues that resolve themselves.

Not had any problems at all with YouTube lately, still streaming 720p without buffering for me.

its weird because some videos load fast enough to watch while its loading but they're still slower than before, and others I just need to wait 5 minutes for sometimes only half the video to load.

Have noticed this problem recently as well. Starting to seriously get on my nerves - some videos will loads almost instantly, others will constantly buffer, meaning I watch 10 seconds, buffer, watch 2 seconds, buffer - gotten to the point where I just pause each video at the start. :/

I've noticed this on a few videos on youtube. But normally I just wait or open up Chrome and load it in that since I'm using the HTML5 testing thing.

Ya, videos are loading pretty slow nowadays.. But normally, i will refresh the page and the video will load as per normal.

Slightly off topic, I have Opera 10 and videos aren't loading at all I get the "update your flash" button. Anyone got any ideas? I've updated my flash btw.

try clearing your cache

No problems for me either. Try switching to the newer view (or back the old one if you already have) - see if that makes a difference?

It's upgrading everyone and there servers to the newer version, I believe that's the reason

What the hell is up with the two views??? I've changed to the new version twice now but I keep realising that it's changed back.............. And I don't know how to get the new version other than clicking some random link posted on here.

This is really taking the piss now, haven't been able to load a single youtube video today. My internet is perfectly fine and this problem is all over other forums so i'm wondering why this issue hasn't been addressed as urgent by google.

Agreed. I can play as many videos as i like as many times as i want, no problems here.. :S
