Nothing wrong with giving your address to someone you have already met :P

I'd never give my address out before I'd met someone though.

Does giving your address/phone number to a 'long lost friend' count? As in someone you haven't spoken to in about 7-8 years?

No but someone on Habbo wanted to do photography at college (they live about an hour away from me so it's not that close) and I joked saying 'come to my college'. She did, so I gave out my college name, which inevitably led her to finding me :P

I think if you have seen them on cam, spoken to them many times on the phone, and they are how old they are then its not that bad.

Saurav is most definitely correct, it is perfectly safe as long as you follow the right methods. You need to see someone on webcam and have been speaking to them a long while before considering meeting them.

That girl was just stupid, there are numerous ways in which to tell if someones facebook is fake, including number of their own pictures, whether anybody else tags that person in any pictures and I think one key indicator is amount of friends.

If you vett someone long enough whilst online, you should know them well enough to meet them, I imagine that girl was rushed into a decision, didn't really want to meet him and paid the consequences.

Yes that is true however there are a lot of younger members on here that might not consider all that.

Shouldn't meet anyone from internet (or at least without a parent) if you are under 16 imo.

Unfortunately not, it's a shame really because the internet is a wonderful place and is good for meeting people, then something like that happens and the immediate blame goes to the internet, when it was more the user not knowing how to use the internet along with irresponsible parents. I think the worst thing in that case is the authorities losing track of a registered sex offender.

You may be surprised to know that he had many hundreds of offers to meet from girls aged from 11-30. That's a problem and we are lucky to have had responsible parents, I guess.

Indeed. If people post on their walls who know them in r.l etc, that again usually shows they aren't fake (and if that person posting too has many friends and gets many wall posts etc and not just a clone account).

And unfortunately peado's take advantage of that. Schools need to teach the kids more about online safety.

Phone number and address when sold habbo stuff, oh and one person on here has it.

Phone number to some gamers and a few people off here.

I see nothing wrong with giving out a phone number? And nice big gates on my house - address is fine in my opinion. I wouldn' just give it to any old person, but if I am selling stuff or need to give it for a sale or something I would.
