My laptop fell off my bed on its side where the cable was plugged in, so it's kind of pushed the connection in and turns out that the whole motherboard is ******. So basically what I want to know is; will I be able to retain the hard drive and either put it into a new laptop or at least connect it up to transfer data from it?
Also, will there be anything of value in the laptop meaning I shouldn't just throw it away (baring in mind it's a pretty basic machine and I wouldn't know the first thing about taking it apart)?
Cheers x
Sunny.

You can take the hard drive out easily, I know my old dell had 2 tiny screws and it simple clipped out, no opening the whole laptop casing.
What laptop model do you have?
Also you may want to take out hard drive, RAM n graphics card.
Depending on what type it is you have whether its worth anything in value.
Or you could sell it as spares on ebay.

Depends, what is your laptop?
Most new hardrives have a little slot on the site for the harddrive, but the hard drive disks could of shattered when you dropped it, i would of thought they have, beacuse if it was on they wouldve lost balance when you dropped it and destroyed themselves is it HDD or SSD?. and yes you could strip it, but i highly doubt you would get much.
EDIT: Or a FLASH Drive

You could, if you own a desktop, get hold of a 3.5" to 2.5" SATA adaptor, plug the hard disk in, and access your data through your desktop
Take the RAM, and also, find a guide for taking the computer apart, and eBay the case, keyboard, power lead (IF the lead still works, and the new laptop you buy doesn't use the same connection) and screen. The board is no use, the optical drive probably wouldn't be either.
