Got told that I can buy an iPhone (Second hand) between the price of anything up to £150 am I better off buying now or when iPhone 4G comes out hoping it'll be cheaper?

When the new one comes out i very much doubt it will be cheaper than £150 or than that of the current 3GS. You would be better of with a 3g when the 4g comes out as that may deplete in price further if it's down to price.

This is the question on everyone who's getting an iPhone's lips, and personally, I'd wait until the 4G comes out before you make any rational decisions.
This way you can see the price of the 4 to see if you can afford it and if it takes your fancy. If not you could get a 3G for a song, the previous version of anything's value depreciates when its successor comes out.
However it is very very very highly unlikely that the 4G will be less than £150, no way in hell.

I have an iPhone 3G, i got it because it is free on my cap, but I would spend the extra little bit to get a 3GS, the 3G lags when you load up a few programs (i have jailbroken my phone, no idea if you can load multiple apps with an unbroken iPhone).
So I would defs get a 3GS, the speed is so so so much better.

Yours is slow because it is jailbroken. I have an unbroken 3G and while it's slightly slower than my girlfriend's 3G S, the difference between them is marginal.
Personally, getting a 3G S the now is daft, you'll wish you had waited until the 4G came out.

Every iPhone update is going to bring something that should have been there from launch so in a year you'll be behind anyway, just get the 3G S.

To be honest, looking at the 4g i can't see anything that really inspires we me to want it. It has an updated camera, the current one is fine along with video. An updated look, ok every phone looks different. And some updated specs that make it sound fancy. Ill stick with my 3GS im getting.

What? :S No one has a clue what features the next iPhone is going to have and what it's going to look like...

There i have seen countless lists over the internet stating it has this and it has that. You can hardly keep these sorts of things secret these days with the ammount of people involved in it.

Erm, why? Apple have shown in the past that they can keep a new product secret right up until its launch or up until they intentionally leak information.

Many companies have shown they CAN, but you can hardly say they will keep everything secret.

And some would say I don't like Microsoft.

Apple tend to have very stringent policies on those who know information about new products and things like that. For example, take the man who was incharge of iPhone prototypes and when he lost one - he committed suicide. A reporter outside Foxconn was rough-housed by security personnel. Apple does take a strong approach to making sure that they don't lose a competitve edge (http://www.tuaw.com/2010/02/19/foxconn-apple-supplier-in-china-roughs-up-reporter/)
I know that there are sometimes controlled leaks, to maintain their policy of not speaking about unreleased products. I read an article about how Apple deals with leaks and things like that but I cant seem to find it, I will keep looking though.

No one will know what it is like until launch, look at all the rumors around the iPad for example, that was the best kept secret in terms of specs to date lolll
