View Full Version : Just a Question........
"Fansites must not charge users for premium services such as VIP access."
Does Habbox not do this with donor when it offers then bigger avatar sizes and sig sizes? This is a question and please dont post if you have some **** attempt/ excuse for an answer that doesn't answer my question.

There's a difference between a donation and receiving a bonus for doing so and just out right charging people to use the extras.

They're not forcing to pay it though I think it probably refers to. It's a donation, therefore its out of choice.
In which case all previous VIP features should be offered to donors.
Habbo banned VIP and you weren't force to buy that..... it was by choice
Inseriousity.

LOL I've always thought the same thing (why is it donor now btw, I think I missed that sudden name change) but as I don't really care for that stupid rule, I've never mentioned it.
cause we became un-americanised
??????
Is my response, I was under the assumption it were following the promotion rules based upon account age and post count if it is not it will be something we have to correct.

I think I remember an announcement nvr made about this, it was official and tings, I think that was one of the things he achieved out of his battles with the sulake, however I can't search for the thread until the forum is re-indexed.
I can't find the thread / post, but it definitely was as a result of email exchanges between nvrspk4 and Sulake, who allowed him to give the Donator usergroups certain extra things such as higher sig / av sizes than normal members.

As I see it the crux of the matter was that you couldn't advertise or charge. This is from the fansite way 'Charge users for premium services such as VIP access'. Members are allowed to have bigger avatars and signatures without donating if they have been long standing members. Donation just offers this as a 'thanks' basically for helping with the costs of running the site and forum. There is no donators forum unlike the VIP forum so there is no special 'access'.
Also VIP can still be given in comps etc which is also not against the fansite way. Can't see any problem at all.
but its stilll an extra feature...... i could have sworn sulake said only a coloured username could be given

Yeah thats what I thought too and they agreed coloured name as it was a form of recognition of who donated. Larger avatar and signature is just an extra feature, so I said you might aswell give them the ability to check who repped em ;) and HTML usertitles.

Originally that was what was agreed, but after an email exchange with Sulake certain other features were granted as permissible too.

Hey,
After some discussion with a member of the Habbo Team after an email was circulated about a response from a member of Support Staff on Habbo that implied that fansites could now give out VIP features so long as they weren't advertized, we were informed that Donators could be given aesthetic features. When I asked about several features, I was informed that avatars, signatures, and usertitles would be acceptable.
So as of this announcement, donators can have:
Avatars size 150x150
Signatures size 700x300
Custom Usertitles (user edited, admin HTML coded usertitles are not available as of right now but this may change in the future
Enjoy!

The aesthetic features are all I want from VIP anyway - so it makes no difference. Also, whatever fancy name you call them, they are still extra features so the ultimate answer is that the Sulake staff responsible for this legislation are hypocritical idiots.
In regards to Donor vs Donator; it's nothing to do with American. Both are words but donor is more commonly used and could be seen as "more correct".
