to ban people from using all other forums except from spam due to pointless posting? O.o

I mean, banning them from the one section where theres no such thing as pointless posting is uhm... Well, pointless?

Just saying, seeing as I've been done for this atrocious crime LOL.

Spam is seen as a privilidge and removed to those who are punished under caution.

If we're going to remove all the other forums we may as well ban you.

I think it's evident that it works quite well though, as you are only posting this as you are missing the spam forum ;)

I logged into HxF after a weekend in Wales to find I'm cautioned till 3PM tommorow.

idk about you but I'm not missing it, I just wanted to post one thread and bugger off for the night haha. Either way maybe you should start banning instead of cautioning. :)

I dont get this whole privilege thing either. I mean i don't exactly think i'm lucky to post in that section.

Then again i don't post in it too much.

Apparently its a privelige to not get your post count increased and have to put up with absolute ******s in threads. I'm looking forward to the new ideas they have for donator :D :D :D!!!!!

I don't see Spam as a privilege - on the contrary, I would probably prefer the forum without it - but I understand the reasoning behind it in that arguments etc can be continued by people who have been cautioned for arguing or who want to complain about being cautioned. Basically it's probably a good idea to have it the way it is.

I think the only privilege to spam is not having to follow a topic... but if you post pointlessly, you get punished for not following topics by not being allowed to not follow a topic.

Just an example :eusa_whis

So would you be warned for posting something irrelevant in a spam thread?

No. You'd be warned for posting something irrelevant in any part of the forum other than spam, so they punish you by not being able to post irrelevant things where you're supposed to.

It's a genius plan which has been thoroughly thought through as you can see.

I'm not being naughty on purpose, I just post responses to other people and have a general laugh in the thread, and its classed as pointless posting lol????

Its about the only thing I do now and I do it without any thought because well, I don't see making conversation in a thread as an offence on a forum where you (apparently, don't quote me on this management), create discussion. But hey, I'm cautioned and a general pain in the ass to management so like **** they'll listen to me! :D

Btw cant edit (so **** off if you try infracting me lol) OR post in other peoples feedback threads (another great idea from management lmao) so i'm just gonna post my opinions here, the new dark skin looks like a pile of dog crap. it'd look great if they didnt use blue coloured text, I MEAN SERIOUSLY.

Is Spam really that amazing that it's seen as a privilege? I've always found the normal forums to be more interesting that what happens in spam, unless there are one or two threads bullying Fryoka.

Agreed, there's never anything good in spam and tbh,i wouldn't miss it if it went. The other forums are way more important. Maybe you should restrict them instead..

Such as:

- Can only reply to own threads in whole forum, thats more of a 'punishment' then removing spam..

Not a bad idea but members would then complain they hadn't been told about the pointless posting so you can't win.
From my personal point of view I don't think the merging off topic to pointless comments and bringing it all under the pointless 'umbrella' works all that well or seems sensible but a mod has to follow the rules they are given.

Yeah theres a difference between pointless comments and offtopic comments. Sadly offtopic comments are pointless, I mean I see pointless as posting an image which is just insulting a member or its completely random like yknow a actual spamming post to get peoples post count up. I swear thats how Moderation back in the day did it too. Where is A4AOwen :(

Yes it used to be that Pointless/ spam which were things that were just completely random and off-topic where basically 2 or more members started a convo mid-thread. It was in force way before A4AOwen and changed within the last few months. Personally I think it is confusing.

Well off-topic I always do (once its been pointed out to me lmao) but I never spam threads, ever ever ever. I mean I remember when moderators would just come into threads and say please stick on topic, because most of the time the off-topicness lasts for about 2-3 posts and then it goes back onto the original topic. Even huge forums like www.thestudentroom.co.uk operate a similiar policy to what we used to have.

Well I think there was a problem and it was changed but not for the better IMO - nothing that I haven't already told
my management I hasten to add :P There were valid reasons at the time for the change but its an area where relationships between mods and members could really be improved if it was less confusing. I can see why members say 'but it's not pointless' because essentially it is off-topic.

I don't think you should be banned from forums, unless you have been constantly breaking rules in that particular section.

I also think cautions should last longer in that case too.

Yeah it bugs me bigtime. I know that changing the topic completely is like yeah annoying for the people, but conversations are going to drive off onto other subjects, its human nature to, and I'm about as human as you can get! :( well I hope LOL. Bugs me bigtime... but it wont be changed for obvious reasons (they want me banned >: ()

Tbh I don't see management banning people from their favourite forums, though it'd be a clever thing to do I don't think they could. Should be banned from the forums they are most of a problem in... I mean they have time to judge whether a post is pointless or not, I'm sure they have time to decide whether or not they should be banned from certain forums.

You are living in the past, we've had "Forum Specific Bans" for ages, if people play up in particular forums then they can be banned from them.

I know that, I'm saying for general cautions Spam is always removed even if you're never in spam lol.
