I've been doing maths AS since september and i do a btec nd in art and design.

maths has always veryyy much been my secondary subject and i dont focus on it much my attention is with art.

but i took maths because i wanted to show that i am good at academic subjects too and to give me a break from all the art.

but i have it 3 days a week for long lessons and my timetable is packed and i get loads of art work so ive really struggled to like pay any attention to maths.

in my january exam i got a D and that was in C1 which i thought i was confident with.
C2 I've found really hard and nothing has sunk in, decision maths i missed loads of and its just all a blur to me.

so i just think is there point me carrying on? the highest id probably get is a C and is that really valuable to me if im just planning on going to do art at uni anyway?

it would clear up my timetable so much giving me more time for art and generally so im less tired all the time

but it seems like a waste, im i guess at the final stretch should i just stick it out?

advice!

Yeah, I would have suggested to drop if it was causing such a problem. It's one of the hardest A-Level courses out there so you need a hell of a lot of time to do it. Also since it's your first year, you've always got A2 to try additional AS levels and if your centre/college etc. offers a third year, even better :P.

C1 is normally the easiest module, mainly starting from A* GCSE stuff. The other ones start to get harder. You probably made the right decision doing it, because it does require an awful lot of work.

yeah if you got a D in C1 then i would give up if you are finding it hard since you are meant to be able do C1 easy. Anyway good luck with the art it's obvious that is where your talent and heart lies :)!

I would suggest maybe taking something else instead that's easier than Maths. Not sure what, but I'm sure there will be something.

I totally disagree with those who say that it requires "a lot of work". C1 and C2 don't need much practice at all, but I'm not sure about D1 since I took S1 to go with C1 and C2 in AS. Will do D1 next year in my further course, though. If you're struggling at this point in time, and you are, you made a right choice in dropping it.

@Black_Apalachi: I don't think you can get easier than Maths unless you're taking arts, which you're either good at or not...

yeah, i think i would have found it fine if i was just doing normal a levels but because of the attitude towards ur additional i felt no pressure if you get me, and thanks :)
