I found it was best to play a mix of music, different genres, old and new. Something for everyone :)

Start with a couple of your own faves and then go with what gets requested the most :) of course mixing in some of your own personal faves. Good Luck!

Dunno if I am too late - but try playing some unknown bands you think sound good.

Promote them a bit, might get some interest in you too.

I personally think 'Daughtry - What About Now' couldn't go a miss.

Good luck with your trial - hope it goes well!

I would play old and new as others have said. If you're tuned into the previous show, try not to play any song that was played in the show before.

If you play too much chart/overplayed music then it gets awfully boring! |-) Good luck with your first show. :)

Dan,

Here Are some Links, that have lots of songs on them,

New UK Releases (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/playlist/)
UK Charts (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles/)
BillBoard Charts (http://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100#/charts/hot-100)
MetroLyrics Top 100 (http://www.metrolyrics.com/top100.html)

Then on our forum, there is also this but I do recommand to go farther in the post because the song in the begging is like 2008 songs :D
Recommended Songs (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=508439)

Do NOT whatever you do make your show full of chart songs. That's what I don't promote myself, I have to cringe at the amount of times I did hear DJs just having a show full of overplayed chart music.

Mixing is indeed the right road to follow, play a chart song, then play something you like. Look at the request line, there sometimes are quite a few requests etc. Old and new, different genres etc. and you'll be good :).

Have fun in your DJing matey!
