Pointless Reputation

Hi,

I was thinking, instead of deleting reported pointless -reputation, why not change them to +rep? If people knew it will be turned to positive rep, it might make them think twice before giving out pointless reputation.

Just an idea :)

Also, people will report all sorts of -rep in hope they will be changed to a +rep, which essentially is wasting more admin time

If they wanted it turning into +rep, they would want it removed too, so nope, it shouldnt lead to an increase in reports.

In a way, all it is, is a punishment for the person who gave it out as instead of having a negative effect, its having a positive effect.

Well you would be surprised how many people keep -repping. Brandon had to turn it into a neutral rep once to stop the person constantly -repping me. I know they can get warnings etc, but I can see some of them looking through every post to find a post to give a valid -rep to for the sake of it.

Thats like 1 or 2 people. The rest of the time it works perfectly well

Its happened to me 7 times already "/ One yesterday. Brandon removed it. The person -repped me again for the SAME post. Thats how lame they are. If they knew it would be turned into +rep, they wouldn't waste their time, my time and brandon's time.

Like I said, its just an idea :). I don't mind if it doesn't get implemented.

I don't think it should be changed to +Rep, then it would be pointless +rep. However, I'm all for it turning neutral so they can't rep you again.

I can see what you mean about +rep. Scrap that idea. What about having it neutral?

Tbh, brandon can probably give us the best answer to this. Only he knows how many people -rep again after the first one was removed. If its a very low figure, this whole idea is pointless.

I was just speaking to dogboy, and although neutral rep is a better idea, it looks ugly and more people will complain.

So I think this idea has more negatives than positives for the members :P so Thread Closed :). Thanks to all those who replied.

Edit: and sex, I don't. Like I said, was just an idea ... :rolleyes: Unfortunately people fail to understand that here.

I guess if I posted an idea about Arcade, it means I get worked up over it.

I can guarantee most new members do care about rep. You might not do as you aren't new.
