So yano my new 306 playing up lol ive kinda fixed it but need confirmation. can a sudden low oil pressure cause the engine to cut out ? i found that this "pipe" was like this, and since putting it back has been fine.... lol

Looks like it's odd on that was the problem but could be lot of things really. Did you top it up with oil? Cut outs can be caused by a blockage in the fuel pipe, dirty fuel, problem with the ECU if you have one. I am sure somebody else will come along and suggest others. I would do a few more miles in it and see what happens or pop it to a mechanic.

It's the moon and back miles its done! :P
but nah keep it how it is, if it happens again then take it back, I'm sure low oil pressure would play some part in the engine cutting out. It was probably that pipe hanging off that caused the low oil pressure in the first place.

seems to be fine now lmao. gonna get it serviced when i get more money :P i've taped it back up and seems ok ty guys
Just asked my dad about if an engine would, because i was intrigued and he said yes because it would suck in too much air ...

That is a good idea and breakdown . I am with Autonational rescue and they are pretty cheap. Saves a lot of worry.

I thought that'd fix the problem... nope. cut out twice on my last journey.

Have you got any warranty? You probably need to get it to the garage and get a krypton/diagnostic check. If there is a electronic management system then it could be a software fault. Mine just cut out one day and it was a software fault in the ECU. They downloaded the software and fixed it. Cost £35. Have you asked the person you bought it from?

In that case if it has been standing a long time - it could be dirty fuel or even the spark plugs. Best to have someone have a look. :)

im thinking dirty fuel or fuel filter or pump, gonna check most tomorrowwwwwwwwwwww

Have you checked your vacuum lines? I've had a loose vacuum line in the Accord that triggered some error codes. I also had an O2 sensor go in it as well and that made the car sluggish and extremely hard on fuel.

Mine cut out in the Mersey tunnel once - scariest thing that's ever happened to me. That was something to do with the fan belt needing adjusting I think.

could have been your serpentine belt. My old Accord would squeel when I would start it and the A/C would do weird things to the lights. It got to the point where the car would lose power and feel like the electrics were gunna go :(

When you're going along at about 60 or 70 and you suddenly notice the speedo dropping and then realise it's cut out, it's such a sickening feeling! :P

Haven't had this properly repaired yet, but have noticed I was when it cut out and I restarted this morning, my fuel was on almost zero, then after starting again its gone up to almost a quarter? Is this normal....

Sounds like you have alot of miss fortune with you car swearwolf... i personally dont drive but ive spent quite alot of time in cars lol shame these problems didnt show up in the test drive, maybe then the pervious owner would have either dropped the price or paid for repairs eh

Lmao mine always did that too.... I'd be going down the motorway staring at fuel gauge in despair lol. While it seemed unreliable, I think it behaved when it was near empty so you knew to fill it up.

nope, can't get hold of him :/ on the other hand my black death trap clio (that the guy who sold me is currently fixing or giving me my 300quid back) is getting it done for me and taking the costs off of what he owes me, which is as good as free to me :)

quick update; decided to replace air filter, took old one out and low and behold it was smothered in oil.. so i've since replaced that. a lot less cut outs now, only 2 on a 10 mile test run. i've then temporarily taped up some loose air intake areas (i'll get fixed properly soon) and taped that disconnected pipe back better, only 1 cut out at the end of a 30 mile round trip... thought i'd fixed it ;) but im pretty sure thats the problem found. when i get the pipe re-sealed as air tight and not just taped i'm sure it'll be fine :D

Typical that all this happens after you've bought it eh, with no sign of it about to happen on the test run either!
How much for new bits?

erm tensioners for power steerin belt are about 56 quid, belt is 13 quid, 13 quid for alt belt and ermm 10 for fuel filter? im paying nothing tho as my mechanic owes me 300quid

His warranty will have ran out by now, and as a result, Peugeot dealer would charge him an arm and a leg. Probably a head aswell.
